997.2 C2 PDK performance upgrade ideas please

When I picked up my 997.2 in August I felt my PDK was clunky especially immediately post thrashing. I mentioned this to my mech and he said that I got it serviced by him (and Porsche etc) he would carry out the PIWIS service routine, which I think opens/closes the valves, and PIWIS would apply the latest maps and software. First 30 or 40 miles were no better but after that it was a LOT better, much smoother and no more horrible clunks. He did explain that it was much nosier than Tip gbs as it's effectively a manual box that's automated.

Driving again today, seems adaptions have taken place. Car is a rocketship through gear changes. It almost feels like it has now enhanced the ECU Custom Map done by GAD Tuning, feels like its pulling harder from lower down. Although, I think this is probably some placebo effect

Ninemeister suggested the increased torque capacity and clutch line pressure speeds up the shift and keeps everything smooth. There is noticeably less clutch-slip during the shift and they are noticeably smoother

Time to do another 100-200kph run to check any overall performance increase.

Last attempts after the ECU Map were
Run 1 - 10.22
Run 2 - 9.53
Run 3 - 9.73

Local OPC no use on the sport button upgrade… but have sent them the part number off the Porsche website

HAve you gone ahead with the Sport/Sport+ upgrade? If yes, did you buy the dasboard Module (99704490302) from Porsche or elswhere?

Only ast week i spoke to my Independant about my occasioanlly clunky PDK, but to be honest I haven't yet thrashed mine. That might change once I have Sport/Sport Plus fitted.

My clunkiness is most notable when the car is cold. My Independant said it's normal to be clunky when cold. Mine is MY2009 with 55,000 miles. When it next goes in for a service I might ask for the oil to be changed. Also I'll do some resarch about the PIWIS, and ask my Independant about it too.

When my mechanic did the work he emphasised that the PDK was very unlike my previous Tiptronic gearbox and that the PDK just isn't 100% smooth (unlike the Tip) as it's an automated dual clutch manual gearbox not an automatic gearbox. If I'm being honest that's all a bit lost on me :)

OK, so its not Placebo Effect....

Spoke to Peter at Ninemeister today to discuss another challenge (trying to fit universal paddle shifter to a Momo Mod 7 Steering Wheel and the PDK wiring), and he confirmed the reason why the car feels like it pulls harder in lower gears, is because it DOES!

The Factory TCU Software limits the Torque being requested from the ECU in the lower gears. The TCU Remap removes the Torque request limits allowing as much torque as the engine can provide the gearbox.

Went for another drive with the newly fitted MME Motorsport Carbon Paddles and wow, I can highly recommend the TCU software from Ninemeister in combination with other mods (or in isolation)

Coming from a Sportsbike background, am used to fast vehicles, and can now say the car is now a serious bit of kit. Sadly its taken a lot of effort (and money) to get here!

Now to find some cheap Recaro Pole Positions.... :-)

PS. If anyone is thinking about TCU Software remap, and are struggling to remove the TCU (its buried), then feel free to DM me, can talk you through it. (Should have done a YouTube)

TCU is now back in the car. Took it out for a test drive yesterday to adapt clutch/shifts.

Initial observations -

Auto mode very similar to before but the clutch operates more smoothly at slow maneuver speeds (reversing, parking)
Manual Mode in Sport Plus the gearbox feels a lot faster to shift at lower revs. There is more of a snap to the shift at lower revs, whereas before it felt the clutch slipped when changing gear to make it smoother. Full throttle shifting at redline is very quick and seems that the 'thud' is now gone

Sadly, they couldn't find a way to change the code to reverse the +/- shift pattern on the manual shifter. It would take hours of code to do.
Hi Veetwin thanks for the review got mine booked in for wc25th so will be able to compare notes!

I paid £728 but was one of the first customers with a Carrera (not a Turbo) with the latest Porsche updated software in a 997.2.

It took them longer than expected to find the Torque tables in the code. Now that Ninemeister is familiar, it could be cheaper but best check with Peter directly
