Got to say the engine note in 997 is an improvement over the 996. Above 4k it almost sounds like it is turbo charged with it's whistle.

Out of interest, is this engine design or exhaust configuration change which is making the difference?

Although the engine note is an improvement, the tip box certainly isn't!

When cold I notice that the gearbox takes longer to engage and if I'm on a hill, I can put in drive and press the accelerator - the delay is so long that the car even rolls back before engaging.

It's the same when warm, just more pronounced when cold.

Anyone else noticed this?

Have you asked your OPC for an software update? There might be one. It's at least worth a question. Controlling an automated gearbox is always a software issue.
