Morning,

Had a look around the forum but couldn't find a straight answer:

In need of fitting some grills on the 997.1 aero bumper to protect the rads. A few options and I'd appreciate input from people who've done it:

1) ZunSport GT3 version - they say they don't fit but can anyone confirm or deny? It's really odd because the car shown in their fitting instructions isn't actually a GT3 (doesn't have the smile)
2) Rennline seem to do a version but it's a lot of £££ for what it is
3) DIY it. Bumper hasn't been fitted yet, so could fabricate something myself and drill / fit with cable ties (I don't lose sleep over drilling small holes into plastic parts that can be refilled / painted in the future). If anyone else has gone down this route, can you recommend material from anywhere in particular?

Bonus question: without a 3rd rad, do people bother with the centre grille? I was going to cover it up anyway, to prevent leaves etc. from getting in there but maybe I'm overthinking it.

Thanks for your input!

I went the diy route as my bumper was off before fitting new. Works quite well with the aero bumper as you can wrap the mesh around it. I also did the centre as I have the rad but would have done this anyway

My 997.2 C2S had sides but not the centre, no idea why as air/leaves can go sideways once inside the centre area. I fitted a Zunsport centre grill, it was very well packaged, high quality, easy to fit and looks nice. Not a 7.1 aero bumper, but a vote for Zunsport - never heard of fitting issues? Maybe give them a call?

Thanks. Can you elaborate on what you mean by wrapping the mesh around it? Any pictures to hand you could share?

No pics sorry. I basically bent the mesh over and glued it on. Can’t take any installed pics as my car is currently on the back of a trailer heading back from Bilbao!!

I was about to buy the Zunsport GT3 version but had the same doubt. I can't see why it wouldn't fit an aero bumper as the cut-outs look identical to the naked eye. I have seen people fitting Zunsport grills to aero bumpers but no amount of Google has given a definitive answer on what product actually fits.

I tried contacting Zunsport for an answer but no luck...!

I guess that will make sense when I've got the bumper in front of me (only just ordered it).
Increasingly tempted to go down the DIY route as the Zunsport grilles just sit too far forward in the bumper for my liking.
You've answered what would have been my next question: how did you fit it in place.
Cheers and I hope it arrives back in one piece ;)
