996GT3 to F430 ???

Re the 430 stereos, all of the ones we had including my daily had standard Becker Cascades fitted on delivery (I can't remember if they where an option though) ie exactly the same unit as I have in my 993 but with a Ferriri badge instead of Becker.........they used to be about £500 second hand when I was looking for the 993 but that was years ago now and I think they are cheaper again but expect a Ferrari badged one might be at a slight premium ?
They are old tech now, pre Dab, the radios are great on them though (they where one of the premium brands back then), the bluetooth still works with modern phones (based on my 993 experience) but I gave up updating the maps years ago (they can be hacked to run BMW maps) and just use my phone for nav.

Mine has the Becker Sat Nav, with upgraded speakers and subwoofers, If I recall all where optional extras. Its still total rubbish to todays standard.

I have upgraded the head unit to a nice Kenwood with Alexa, which improved the sound (and good old Alexa can find most songs I like) and just bought the Super Amp and subwoofer upgrades from Scuderia audio, and given the reviews makes a massive difference. Can't wait to fit them!

Having said that the stereo gets very little use

You will also find nice colour good ones go pretty quickly as well if priced right, as I was gazumped on one and its not a nice feeling!

On the £60 or £65, sadly its a dog eat dog world now, it would be £65k for me and first to a decent deposit!

People don't care in this world anymore, its happened to me dozens of times and only just a week ago with a set of HRE wheels! Won the auction then sold them to someone else for more money. Gutted!

So why continue that cycle of that attitude? If it were me Id take the £60k if someone was in first and you were happy to take that in the first place. But then thats maybe why I cant afford one as Im not that cut throat

I suppose the way to look at it is you wont have issues getting rid of the Gt3 so weight up if you can afford the change plus it seems that if you dont like it, for whatever reason, it would be easy to punt on and go back to the 964 that you really want......... :thumb:

Its a brave new world sadly, times have seriously changed. I have been bitten so many times, and it makes you change your attitude. I have also had people say yes Ill have it for £xx and then you never hear from them again. If you can't beat them join them.

This goes in line with the fact I will never buy a car from Birmingham, Bradford or Liverpool, all my previous experience of dealings with these locations have been ones best avoided!

If Marky has taken a deposit that's different, as far as I'm concerned the car is sold, but no deposit, well that's not sold. Its horrible but sadly someones "word" means nothing nowadays and you don't know who's good for it, and who is not! :thumb:

I am with you with taking the fires 60k offer but that is just me.
The 65k why knows until they actually put money where there mouth is will actually come up and pay the offer.
All depends what your happy with and expect I suppose

Boba that's exactly it! It's all about buying a peach or a lemon. It always is but with say GT3s if you check the fundamentals then the odds are usually with you on things being ok. Not so much on those F-cars.

This is the most in-depth I've looked at the 360/430s and to be honest there's a lot of items that can cause grief. I'm already realising there aren't many properly safe ways into ownership. They're generally way too old for main dealer stock (bar the one that has set me on this path) so that leaves small dealers that you hope prep them properly.
I've been following AV for years and someone messaged saying I should get in touch with him. I may do when I'm ready, although I think he'll have quite a list of buyers.

This is the thing. I need the readies so if a sorted car comes up I can jump on it. However I don't want to sell the GT3 to embark on a PITA search as I've a few things in the diary already.

Regarding the price and original buyer, I may still do that and would never usually do otherwise, but as my mates say I'm the worst critic of my own stuff, so I always give stuff away to sort of prove I'm not in it for the money (weird), but then I go to buy something and have to pay full price off someone who is.

Nobody's ever said to me, 'well the market is up here now, but you can have it for this much below because I'm a nice guy".
It's only since looking at the classifieds this last few weeks I've realised things have moved again. There are two cars (comforts) with the same or more mileage as mine. Silver one at Paragon for £82k. Red one coming soon to RPM for £80k. Now bar £1k worth of paint on mine it's the same car. Great car, fantastic history file, great mods, lovely interior, etc.
When I said £50k the dealer ones were at £55/£60k (Oct '20), then when I said £60k the dealer ones were at £70k+. Now they're at £80k+.
So there's doing the decent thing and there's being stupid. Whoever buys it for £60k/£65k will spend the £1k on paint (if I don't do it first), maybe some other items if they want to go daft but then they'll be sitting on a £75k car and that's if things don't continue climbing.

So for once I'm actually thinking about it with a tougher stance. As Boba says 'it's a dog eat dog world" and no one does me any favours when I'm buying. And as my mates say 'Would that buyer pass up on £5k just to be nice to you?". It's five thousand pounds.

A dealer mate has even offered me the £60k this week when he heard I was selling. I can drive it to his yard 5 miles away and have the money in my bank there and then. Zero hassle. Oh and I know a car is too cheap when he's interested in it.

But yeah I don't want to be known as 'that tit who bumped the price up on someone", so I won't be doing anything rash.

I'll get the GT3 back, get my wife back up and about (I've never stopped this week) and see how the new job goes. My heads done in with it all this week. :bonk:

Boba is a nifty one, like how he's got his Ferrari shower cap doubled up as a steering wheel protector!

Just caught up with the thread, Marky. Been interesting so far! Deliberations on a massive scale, you getting any sleep?

Not been in a Ferrari newer than a 360. The 'DreamCrusher' works with a chap that has a 360M (Factory race 360) and a 360 CS to drive to the track in. Both are immense, he invited us to a Silverstone TD where FF Corse look after his 360M. What a day that was, his instructor and friend Ray Grimes was out handing every Ferrari their arse in the 360M with me in the passenger seat. And the other Fezzas out were vastly newer and more expensive.

He did 6k in tyres on that TD alone.

If the Ferraris are so much louder than Porkers, does that mean you have issues with noise levels at some tracks?

Quote of the thread thus far.... jonttt discussing his reputation for visiting the Mersey Tunnel

Yeah thats fair enough, if market is shifting that much and no deposit paid then fair enough.

Good position to be in . :thumb:
