996 vs 997 interiors: a controversial take

Yes, I had rotary selectors for the HVAC in my 930t too, but I recall them being the referred to as climate control, a premium version of AC back then.

And don’t forget the electric seats!

I've got all that and I confess to not properly knowing how it all works, I generally twiddle about with it until I get it somewhere near the temperature that I want but it does seem unnecessarily complicated, I don't know why they need so many levers and flaps and things.
I actually saved this screenshot and keep it on my phone to remind me what it all does.

I remember being constantly confused for the entire time I owned my first 911, a gazillions previous owned white cab, with what I was supposed to do with the heat exchanger levers by the handbrake lever.

There was no ‘I’ll just google it’ back then.

The internet is taken for granted now but it's been massively life changing, I remember before the internet we used to believe all sorts of myths and stories told down the pub or on schoolyards.

Even when I was at Uni back in the early 90's I had to ride to the library on an almost daily trip to get all my information, whereas these days a weeks worth of library research can be done in a morning sat at home with a cup of coffee.

.............and acquiring pornographic material was a right pain!

That's it! what is called the "autoheat controller" in your pic, just moves the heat lever and the fan speed up and down :)

I haven’t gotten that far into it, I just notice it gets warmer if I turn it clockwise and obviously the opposite if I turn it back down the other way.

The heaters are pretty good, even when it’s really cold you only need it turning up halfway.

My AC has been overhauled and upgraded to use a different gas, so that should be bob-on but I haven’t had chance to try it yet. It feels cold but you can’t get a proper test until you really have the right conditions.

I can't wait to get the heating tubes connected on my car so I can be confused to the bullsh1t on how to make it all work.

Just leave it on full heat all the time & remove the roof panel if you get too hot.
