Hi guys, wonder if anyone can help. I bought a new exhaust back box etc for my 1999 c4 996. Bought a stainless steel one custom fit but it's too loud. I sound like a chav with a bean tin on the back but two of them!! Anyone know why a, it's way to loud and or b, where I could get a cheap standard replacement? Porsche want £1300+ for a replacement set but can I get it done cheaper. Any help gratefully received :)

Where did you buy your last ones from/ who made it? What brand were they? That should point you to the answers of your questions about why its loud/ or you can phone the company and ask.

To get a cheap standard replacement all you need to do is type 'porsche 911 996 exhaust' into google and have a look around. Below are a mixture of new, old, standard and quiet sports exhaust that come in around half of what Porsche are asking. Took me 2 minutes to find. Yepu need to ask yourself how long yor keeping the car as you may be better just getting a good condition 2nd hand pair off here or ebay.

Sweet. Cheers for the quick reply. Don't finish work till ten so not had a chance to google anything extensively yet. Cheers for the links will have a look later. Was made by longlife. Had them do an exhaust for a skyline I once owned so thought would be ok. Guess not lol. Ta!!

Or try searching the breakers ... porschapart, douglas valley breakers etc...
