Can somebody comment on how the gearshift should feel on a MK1 please ?
I've driven one today for a few miles with a short shift kit fitted, it felt really tight getting into gear. Felt really direct, centred nicely and no crunching - just really tight slotting into gear.

Also can anyone confirm the hot idle oil pressure as well please ?

Sounds normal for a 996.1.GT3

Porsche always make advances with the Mk2 vairents i.e Power / Brakes / Aero / Gearbox / and and and.......

"Waiting for the Mk1 to kick up a fuss about hand built bollox and other such crap... lol"

It should feel horrible when cold but nice and precise when you have proper oil temperature (not that the 996 actually has an oil temperature gauge, so a guide would be around 6-8 miles of driving miss Daisy from cold or alternatively 5 minutes after the water temp is where it should be).

When I had problems getting the gearshift on my Mk1 into the right gear, especially 1st or 2nd (mainly when shifting down), got PARR to have a look at it, and the existing short shift had worn and had small movement, which made it difficult to sometimes quickly locate. As previous people mentioned, slightly worse when cold.
Had a 997 short shift to replace the existing and its brilliant :D Highly recommend this mod.

Thanks guys, just to clarify it felt rifle bolt precise - no problems there but it needed a lot of effort to slot it in.

Maybe I just need to man up a bit ?
