Having owned a 993 C2 from 2011 until 2018 & then a 997.2 C2S since, I would say I love both cars but they are for different experiences. The one thing they have in common is they are subjected to “Porsche Tax” on spares .
When driving on my own to car meets or a blast over the moors, the 993 would be my choice as it provided more nostalgia, noise, drama, oldie worldie etc & was plenty fast enough on “B” roads once you got it wound up.
However, I definitely prefer the more modern & powerful 997 on longer trips & blasting over the moors with other like minded forum members.
Regarding 993 values, I sold mine to a dealer for nearly double 7 years after a private purchase. 5 years on it would cost me at least another £20k on top to get a 993 C2 manual coupe of similar quality .
I miss the 993, but the more modern car suits my current needs. I do really fancy something with a little more poke , a GT4 perhaps or having seen & heard Jonttt’s V10 R8 yesterday . However, in reality I’d have to find another £35k+ to upgrade which is my latest man maths challenge
