looking towards buying a mint turbo 1996 993 with 48K miles on the clock.

if i wanted to sell in a year or two with about 2k annual milage at a realistic market rate, might it prove difficult to sale as it is from a private seller, (ie a buyers worried as i am not a dealer)? are there any other difficulties in selling a turbo instead for example a C4s or targa.

many thanks

think the bulk of 993tt's will be from private sales...........you could always get it sold on a sale or return basis from some indies too

Think a private sale may be a bonus...

As long as you keep up PSH or a good independant, and lots of TLC, it will sell itself for sure..

only 2k miles per year, and it will prob be worth what you paid for it in a couple of years time at least IMO..

got to agree with Glenn on that one,

Low milage, is probably an investment if you look after, in the right colour combo

I always need to ask this question, why buy a car like that and only drive 40 miles a week?

I CAN see it to tell the truth...

If you just want a car for special occasions, why buy an expensive euro box, that will rinse money as soon as you drive it off the forecourt...

when instead, you can have an awesome classic sports car, that won't depreciate, or may even appreciate..

That's what i'd do if in that position.

thanks for your replies..

i have a daily runner, but i want a car to feel really special in ... not to show off... but to sit in the seat, smell the car and think to myself this is why we work really hard for!!! its that old addage about fimiliarity breeds......

i really value the opinions as this is my first venture into 911 territory.

tt with low miles correct colour easy sell, harder to buy

i have been used to ferraris, anything over 40k miles is reaching end of its life!!! is 48K too high for a 1996?

Just broken in IMO!!

You want to check out some of the mileage the guys on the 993 Rennlist forum in the US are running

If you are not going to be clocking up more than 4000 to 5000 in the next couple of years, I cannot see that hitting your residuals too much, and if no-one wants it then, give me a shout - I might be tempted by a tt then (that is unles the wife starts banging on about children again!)

really low mileage 993s can be problematic

these cars need to be driven to be in their strongest mechanical condition

I agree with Damian, 2000 miles a year means the car would have been warmed up each week just before being switched off and stored another week :?

wonder how long it would take for the oil to start to settle at the bottom of the engine... months ?

Try to use it as much as possible and if buying privately a must is PPI.

I had Peter Morgan do 3 PPI and he saved me potentially £10k'ss

In the end I bought from strasse, top people, but did nt have it PPI.

Drive it to enjoy it and you wont bother abouth the mileage
