993 Targa Roof Bar Rust

When cleaning my 993 Targa the other day, and checking the rubber door/roof seals, I was surprised to find that the bolts joining the targa roof bars to the windscreen frame are very rusty. I'm guessing that rainwater has found its way into the space immediately below the bolts and has stayed there, held in place by the rubber seal.

Have any other 993 Targa owners had the same problem? I'll squirt in plenty of WD40 for now, but may have to inject some silicone sealant to sort it out properly.

Just wondering if this is a known problem or if I've just got dodgy seals.

spotted the odd bit a few months back, that's why a lot of wd40 is needed, to keep it going!

Hi,


I have also spotted rust blisters
at
the front of the rail roofs. Plus, on the inside of the door arches (under the seal) there is some corrosion which I would like to have professionally removed to avoid spreading.


I have been to a few local specialist garages and they are telling me the roof may have to come off for this (fully or just at the front) which sent me straight into a state of shock since this is time-consuming & expensive.


How have you resolved your problem in the end?

I had a look haven't noticed any rust in that area, there seems to be some sort wax/oil based barrier.
