I've been working on a wee project and thought you'd all like to see / hear the results.

The above picture is a set of silencers modified with a 1.5" internal diameter pipe - similar in design to the 996 PSE.

I fitted them to my car and then recruited a friend to help record some video clips - it was helpful that the friend also has a varioram 993 with RSR silencers.

Compare and contrast....

Both cars sound great, and look good to, well done.

The video was it filmed near Glencoe, on the way to Ben Nevis?

Looks kind of familiar to where I went in December.

Which one's which?

TBH, they both sound awesome! I love the bassy burble of the first, and the top end howl of the second.

What would be really cool is if you could make yours a switchable system...

Thanks for posting- I love sound clips.

Porsches and snow, yum, two of my favourite things.

How long did you leave the cameraman there freezing his nuts off then? :D

It's up at the Glenshee ski centre car park - this is further east than Glencoe... But all snow covered mountains look similar after a while!

I'll go with Sundeep, The 2nd sounds better for me.

I have just bought a s/h pair of silencers to modify, would be interested to hear what you did.

1st car in video has rsr's, second car the modified silencer as pictured above.

I prefer the sound of the modified box, it's more tuneful and ultimately a little louder than the rsr box. The top end noise is much better too :)

So David,

Was the crosspipe the only mod you did.

This may save me getting my boxes plasma cut and modified. :)

Yes, simply the cross pipe as you see above.

£40 in welding and fabrication :)

While I prefer the first car (more throaty to my ears) I'd say for 40 quid that's one hell of a mod

The RSRs were always considered a great value (for a Porsche!) and must have on a 993, but I'd say David has come up with a great alternative. Nice one!!

Yes, I've just had mine done for a 996 C2, and waiting to have them fitted...will let you know what it sounds like!

Thanks, please do.

Marc, why do your posts come up with all that Script java script pre amble before your text?
