The 993 now available at Strasse could very much be the 993 for me. Its a bit over my budget, yet I think it should be at my budget and for that I want the known 993 weak spots and suspension to have been dealt with or factored into being done.

PORSCHE 993 CARRERA 2 1996
£32,995 (For Sale)

iris blue metallic, marble grey leather interior, sports seats with hardback shell, electric sunroof, 17" cup alloys, air conditioning, two owners from new - last owner since 1997, 57k miles, all past mot's, original drivers leather wallet & handbooks, full documented service history, serviced and maintained by strasse,

Has anyone dealt with Strasse on a long range purchase? I wanted to have an independent inspection with P Morgan but for a car in Leeds this may not be possible. Can anyone recommend someone similar if PM will not do this distance? I will make contact asking for close up photos and details about the service and condition. I do not want to be going that far to find a car where the photos of the interior were taken in a favourable light.

So any experiences of Strasse or info about the car greatly appreciated. Please PM if you prefer.

Now two cars in the running if this turns out to be a good one.

thanks

I do find adverts like that rather odd - i.e. a specialist selling a low mileage 993 for top money, and there's only 12 words in the advert.

Strasse know the 993, and they know the type of person who wants to buy one.

If they've 'serviced and maintained' it, why isn't there a long list of what has been done?

Why can't they be bothered to write that down?

It implies minimal servicing according to schedule, and none of the usual 'areas of concern' addressed.

Don't they want to sell it? Or is a low-mileage 993, no matter what condition, going to fly out of the door no matter how rubbish the advert is?

Wrong colour and to much, for that money I would be looking at 997s. Forget the nostalgia I had a 993 from new and they are great cars but things move on.

Unless you have a beard :D

It's not nostalgia.

993s don't sell to buyers who had one, they sell to buyers who didn't.

.....or really enjoy driving a rock solid piece of German engineering without having to watch your pride and joy depreciate down the plug hole......just saying.... :)

But would agree with OC if you are going to pay top dollar.....and IMO that is a top dollar car they should have put more thought and care into the advert.....I see they have made the usual mistake of quoting 200 bhp......it's a tatty advert.

Can't say I rate strasse, my opinion only of course!

Hi Bund,

Are you buying a 993 to keep in a heated garage and look at occasionally.

Or are you buying one to drive regularly and enjoy.

If it's the latter then my advice would be don't pay £33k for a NB 57k miler. Find something with higher mileage that's been well cared for and had plenty of money spent on it because its owner drives it regularly.

A good well maintained 993 with 100k - 120k on the clock could probably be yours for around £20k or less. You will have as much fun in it as one that has cost £33k, it will probably cost you the same or perhaps less to maintain because it has had lots of regular maintenance and you will lose nothing on it.

At the same time you'll be more tempted to drive it regularly because you won't have any hangups about your investment disappearing as the mileage increases.

I speak from experience here having previously bought one with 33k miles on the clock.

The one I have now was purchased 18 months ago with 104k miles for £18K. The previous owner had spent £12k on it over the previous two years including new suspension all round, new steering rack, bushes etc and a respray. So it drives nicely, looks good and I only paid about half the price that you're looking at for the one at Strasse (which might need all its suspension changing anyway regardless of the low mileage).

Honestly mate, my current 993 is now on 112k miles but it drives and handles much better than my previous one that had only 33k miles on the clock. And because the high miler cost so little to buy we drive it whenever the mood takes us.

Mileage really isn't important on these things and who wants to pay for something that isn't important. There was a thread on here recently from a guy in the States with a 993 that had just exceeded 300k miles without ever having an engine rebuild and it had nothing but regular maintenance and one new roof (it was a cab).

So ignore the one at Strasse and get a high miler. You know it makes sense!

To be fair, I think that's a quirk of Pistonheads as it happens too often to be a coincidence. Regardless, the advert isn't great but the car might be. No harm in calling and asking the right questions.

That is a bit steep isn't it!

Bund have you been looking for a while?
Do you specifically want a C2 manual vario coupe? Hens bloody teeth!

Btw...

Are you the same bund from PH circa 8 years ago!!?

Way way too expensive :hand: it is priced on mileage and not necessarily condition which sounds like you are after. Some companies will not do the work unless picked up on an inspection or under any warranty offered.

I'd agree don't look just at mileage, you will worry about clocking up the miles paranoid about condition and leaving it anywhere. There are lots of well
Presented and cared for cars with c100k miles that drive and look very well given the build quality and use of good materials. Should be easily attainable around £25k :thumb:

Keep looking or make an offer.

Why would you go and buy a 997 when looking at a 993 :dont know: they are worlds apart not least in the depreciation stakes  you buy these cars for different reasons.

A 997 I'd buy to use every day. The 993would be an additional car because it is different to modern machinery. And actually has more presence, more likely to be admired than vandalised and reminds us how good cars were built in a different era. Oh and it holds its price rather well

Follow the advice of A993Lad......he speaks much sense especially if you are after a car to drive on a regular basis.....not a Garage Queen......try to find an example that has been owned and cared for by someone who posts either here or PH

Impossible to say without seeing the car first hand, but given the prices low and mid miles wb cars are going for, I would say this is pretty much where I would expect price wise taking into account the spec, miles, colour combo and the trader profit.

Bet it sells fairly quickly.
