I'm going to see a 993 c2s soon and talked to the owner recently.

It is a FSH 1997 44K car, zenith blue with cargraphics sports exhaust and refurbed original alloys, factory fitted rear spoiler and front skirts. Looks the business on photos. Priced sub £35K

It is no doubt coming to 48K service although has had brakes, discs and clutch done recently, only 3K since last service.

Spoke to the reputable indy who looked after the car and serviced for last 5 years, thoroughly recommeded the car.

Apart from HPI check,

Is it worth doing a Peter Morgan on this lovely once i have looked at it closely or do i take the goods, the reason being, seller has been frustrated previously by hagglers following inspection.

Mark Pearce and the rest of the experienced crowd, comments appreciated

Play safe, have a PPI done better safe than sorry later on . It has saved me buying a pile of junk.

The car has been for sale for ages. I think a lot of people are put off by the colour and the aero kit. There was chap on here (Vinceg) who I know went to see it and didn't buy.

Go see it in the flesh and decide if it is the car for you. If it is get a PPI on it. Then you will know what needs to be spent on it to get to what you want and therefore can decide if it is a fair price for you. You seem to be the one in a strong position on this car .... unless somethings changed there doesn't seem to be a queue to buy at the price he wants. And previous hagglers after inspection may have had reason to haggle (or maybe just being opportunist).

BTW I don't think you can equate the mileage of 44K with being due for a 48K service. On cars of this age with relatively low mileage the services tend to be done on age rather than mileage and therefore the 48K may have already been done. Only a PPI and service records can tell you that.

Ian.

Something else that is worth doing is that when you are stood in front of the car say to the seller "OK walk me around the car and tell me what the PPI will find that you have already factored into the price".

It gives the seller the choice to tell you there and then anything he thinks it will find (and even tell you something that stops you going ahead). And if the PPI comes back with something new the seller can't say "yeah but that was already factored into the price.

Ian.

It does'nt matter how frustrated the seller seems to be, if the guy has nothing to hide he has nothing to lose. You are spending 35 big ones you don't want to get it home and spend another 3,4,5 or whatever.

Nisha,

I went to buy this car. It was described as in showroom condition with FSH. It isn't.

Although it is a very nice car, there were a few things that made me walk.

pm me if you want to chat.

Well chaps,

Saw the car today, looked good for its age (9years). Few stone chips at the front with a past history of bonnet respray. Looked after well by present and past owners.

Due for its first 48K service in 2000miles but has had new pirelli pzeros all the way round and original refurbed hollow spoke turbo alloys, new clutch and gearbox oil at Northway (Nov 2005). No corrosion and teflon coating to front and back windscreen by Northway recently.

Full service history majority from Specialist Cars of Malton for the last 5 years and 4 month transferable warranty with them with possibilty of extension (dependent on ?£700 per Annum premium).

Looks like the one and have agreed with the owner that Northway may do the PPI but i doubt if he budges from the asking £34K price.

Will keep you informed
