Hi all,

Apologies if this has already been covered. I've just embarked on a search for a (new to me) 911 with a maximum budget of £90k. My last 911 was a 996 cabriolet which was sold about 15 years ago.

The new car must be a cabriolet as it affords better views on scenic drives in the Alps and it won't be going anywhere near a track. I'm leaning towards the 991.2 Turbo (not the S as the cost of replacing the ceramic brakes would be prohibitive) and am keen for any real life ownership insights in terms of running costs such as mpg on long journeys, road tax, servicing costs and issues to be aware of.

A 992 C4S Cabriolet would also be an option within this budget and I would be keen for any owner experience/comparison insights form members kind enough to respond.

Any and all advice is gratefully received.

Thanking you all in advance.

service costs on a new car should be quote light, assuming the 1st one after 2 years is circa £800 but more at 4 years
road tax, it's going to be in the highest band https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax-rate-tables
fuel, very much mileage dependent

Hi Slowcoach
based on my experience of 991.1 and .2 TTS
I would only buy with OPC warranty- active spoiler modules, turbo actuators, change over valves are weak points

Servicing is every 2 years and range between 1400-2k from OPC

Tyres between £300-£400 each depending on how hard you drive but should last 6000 miles for rears

Fuel is around 20mpg average (can get 28 mpg on long run and also >10mpg ) ,road tax was £600 i think

To be honest I dont think there is any difference in running costs from the above vs my current 992 Base carrera

But im glad I sampled Turbos -they are fantastic cars and the highlight is the way the boost kicks in and how hard they pull, very different to the way the non-turbo Turbos deliver their power if that makes sense

Feel free to ask anything!

P.S would be cool for you own a turbo with your username!

Once you get your Turbo, are you changing your handle to ‘Fastcoach’?!
