991.1 Dash cam problems

Good afternoon ladies and gents,

I've purchased Thinkware Dashcam setup for my 2013 991.1.

My main priority for this installation was to utilise the Parking mode. However, the 12V cigarette port does not switch off when the ignition is turned off and car is locked.

I've bought a plug in battery also from Thinkware. The reason for this was to avoid having to hardwire the dashcam system to the car as I didn't want to risk impacting my 3 year warranty.

Has anyone else had this issue with dash cam installation via the 12V?

Also, has anyone got any recommended dash cam installers or Porsche specialists who could sort this for me in the midlands?

Many thanks,
Jason

Mine is also a 2013 car and came with a dash cam wired into the glovebox USB port. Simple install with the cable routed out the rear of the glovebox and up behind the A pillar trim.

Uninstalled it now but pretty sure that port is ignition live, not permanent.

Mines not had any installations prior.

The 12V cigarette lighter provides constant power even when car engine is off and locked. That's the problem.

The USB powers off when the car if off but when I use an adapter to the USB, it don't believe the power is sufficient so it doesn't power on the dash cam.

How did you dash cam connect to the USB?

Don't suppose you know of any good Porsche techs/ hardware installers?

I thought the USB port would work for yours also, but seems not which is a shame given it powers on/off with the ignition.
Mine was wired with just a simple USB cable, no adapters or anything.

Sorry, can't offer any help. New to 911 ownership myself.

I've just installed a dash cam in my car, it's powered from the passenger footwell socket using a socket - USB adaptor. When the car is locked or in sleep mode ( that's to say unlocked but left dormant, which is how I leave it when garaged) the dash cam powers down, but remains in park mode.

Is that not how the Thinkware version works?
