Found these online and agreed a reasonable price with the seller. Great condition, no rips or marks. Electric tilt only, so no memory modules to mess around with in the electrics.

Not too bad to switch over with the standard 996 seats; took less than an hour including all of the electrics (986/996 and 987/997 seat connectors are different - plenty of guides online). Really pleased with the look, colour, support and comfort :thumb:

For reference, I have a full Metropole Blue interior with extended leather. The new seats are Sky Blue, which is a very close match and doesn't look out of place at all (well, IMHO!).

Passenger side in, shows difference to original:

They raise the look of the interior, by comparison the old seats did look a little tired. How pleased are you driving in them?

Yep, they certainly raise the interior and give it a more modern feel. I've only driven a couple of miles to be honest but they feel much more comfortable and supportive generally. The leather seems to be in better condition / less slippery too. They can also be adjusted a fair bit lower than the 996 seats from what I can tell.

Really pleased with them :D

The new ones look much nicer than the originals - and they look more supportive/comfortable too. Nice work :thumb:

Well done, they look great - told you they were pretty straightforward to fit. Hope you are enjoying them!!

They look like a nice improvement over the originals dude! :thumb:

Excellent idea! I could do with doing this myself.

I can't seem to find a simple guide to the electrics anywhere! Any good ones that you found useful?

Thanks for the positive comments guys! Went for a longer drive this evening; the new seats have really improved things.

Ragpicker - I'll drop you a PM with some links and info on how I did the electrics :thumb:

Here are some useful links for the electrics on this installation:

Once you pull the 997 seat and 996 loom connectors apart (fairly straightforward if you take your time) it really is as simple as 'red to red' and 'brown to brown' for the electric recline function. I bridged the 997 seat to 996 loom connectors with a pair of wires; pin at one end, spade connector at the other. You won't need the seat airbag wiring of course.

For the seatbelt clasp warning lamp, it's easiest just to swap the 996 seatbelt clasp onto the 997 seat and hook up the associated connector straight back into the 996 loom (be careful with orientation of the plug/connector). Cable tie the whole lot up and you're off!

Just spotted these, which are the same as I fitted in mine and at a very competitive price IMHO!!

Three months on, I'd definitely say that this is the best upgrade I've done on my 996

I have a pair of grey seats out of my 997, same as the ones in the pics above, no electric memory rubbish but they do have airbags in them.

at 30k miles I replaced them with GT2 carbon fibre seats.

I keep meaning to put them up for sale . . . . . . if you want them they are yours (and better condition than the ones on ebay)

There's a chap in the classifieds looking for a pair of grey sports seats for his 996 I think. Maybe offer them to him and send a link to this thread?
