986 (987 Air Intake / 997 Throttle Body Mod)

If OP takes to Litchfield, RE Performance ie anyone with with same
Maha dyno Porsche factory and Manthey use power won't be much more than 250bhp.

Depends what dyno you use as they all read different - this mod does improve sound but power gains will be moderate unless you've also modified other bits like quality sports exhaust or larger pistons which should liberate more ponies than this intake mod. I actually lost mid range torque and low speed drivability

I obviously misinterpreted the post...
I've re-read and in summary, 987 airbox with 997 plenum and 997 TB is the best result?

Sorry mate, 987 AB and MAF into 986 TB and plenum gave the most power and torque. As we didn't do before and afters with each part of the exhaust we can't comment on that side. He did say he's never seen an aftermarket mani make better figures than OEM. None of my exhaust is stock.

Not sure a lot of people on here want to hear that Wayne's dyno is out. He's seen the lion's share of most modded cars on here.

You're missing the point OP. Its not that the dyno is out just they all read differently to each other depending on make of dyno and how the dyno is loaded. Dyno very useful for sorting out drivability the power figures should be taken with a pinch of salt. However if you're ever curious Litchfield charge circa £120 inc vat for a pull. All it really proves though is they all read differently. I've seen Wayne dyno read outs at 340bhp + for 964 3.6 RS. In reality its closer to a real 300bhp you'd have to be Jesus getting 340bhp from a stock 3.6 in a 964 ;)

Depends when it was done  . for quite a while Wayne was based at and used 9M's dyno.

The porsche specialists with their own dynos tend to / should have dynos specifically setup for rear engine cars as well.

When I had my 993 remapped by him he spent many hours tinkering with a new map on the dyno ie many many runs. When he was happy he swapped back in the OEM EPROM and did back to back runs to compare under identical conditions ie ambient and car temperatures. It was about the increase in BHP OEM v Custom map but mostly driveability and noise :worship:

Obviously depending on whats being changed its not always possible to do back to back under identical conditions but dynos should adjust for ambient temp differences (hence why they can be fudged by faking the ambient temp setting).

Agreed all dynos will report differently and its the comparable difference pre / post changes that matters but I'd be surprised if Waynes own dyno is that far out ie he sets up many professional / semi pro race teams who will have a much better idea what to expect than your average punter / porsche owner :bandit:

Wayne tuned my old 9m RS 993, Yellow Peril. One of the most naughty 911s i've ever driven. You're preaching to the converted ;)

As an aside with the intake mod definitely sounds better. Also both 9e and Unicorn thought they could fiddle with the aftermarket intake set up to make my 997 ECU understand the GT3 throttle body. Couldn't be bothered to data log etc felt it was far simpler for me to switch back to stock. Not looked back..
