Just had my 964 serviced at a "new" specialist. Went there on a personal recommendation, and had a chat with the owner/mechanic before entrusting them with the car.
As well as doing the service, they replaced the steering rack gaiters, and a stabiliser drop link. Plugs were replaced, genuine Porsche oil filter, Mobil oil.
They had to grind off several of the exhaust bolts to access the plugs.
Car also had a full valet.

Total cost was £810, which I thought was very reasonable, as £355 plus VAT of this was for parts/consumables.
Work was done by Richards of Truro.

Looks quite competative but I suppose it depends upon how many hours the work took to complete. Did they set the tappets as well?

I am thinking of buying a 964 but it needs a major service. The cam chain covers are also wet so need new gaskets, does anybody know how much it costs to change the timing cover gaskets?

Gaskets are quite cheap so really you need to factor in labour as long as there is no issue with releasing the covers. Perhaps 1-2hrs.

My Indy rate is £40ph. Although for a major service, gaskets and 'several' other preventative and bespoke jobs it was north of £1500
