Chaps,

Thanks for your help in the other thread about the price of my Techart wing... now the reason for that thread was becuase I am about to buy the '3.8 RS' rear wing off someone who has had it on a 964.

He says it will fit a 993 and also the exact supplier of his wing also shows on their website below that the wing in question also fits 993.

http://www.betterbodiesmotorsport.com/interiors/wings1/38rs.html

But, is this actually true? Will a 964 wing bolt to a 993 decklid and vice versa?? :pc:

Here is a RS wing on a 993 but not necessarily THAT RS wing:

Help...

I dont think they are 964/993 interchangeable.

Stuts is the man to ask who IIRC did some 'research' into it :dont know:

+1

I believe this "schooling" was of a night, or very early morning lesson.

If it is a Better Bodies wing and if they say it fIts both, then I think its pretty likely it will, but I would give them a call to confirm

That someone had an issue with a different manufacturers wing isnt in any way relevant, IMO

It won't.
End of story.

The rear deck lids on 964's and 993's are completely different.
The 993 lids is much shorter.
Ive been there and done that, and take it from me.

Not sure if this helps, but the Techart part numbers for the wing are different on the 993 and 964. Have no idea why...

And

I think that covers it.

Ill have the 964 stuff off you, if the price is right.

This is the wing in question...

Absolutely beautiful, enourmous, perfectly finished GRP and with carbon wing blade.

I'll cry if it won't fit... Which it won't obviously! :(

I assume you actually mean the 964 Wing that bolts into the 993 Decklid, rather than fitting a 964 lid on a 993, then I think it will, since the grill that it fits within is the same size.

You assume correct.

My new wing in the picture is just a "bolt onto the existing decklid" job.

A glimmer of hope!

Rear deck lid & spoiler 993 vs. 964

As it says above - can anyone tell me if the 964 spoiler unit (complete) will fit a 993?

Thanks in advance

:?:

Even though many of the parts have the same code??

I'm not trying to fit a 964 deck on a 993 just the spoiler and mechanism....

993 pop-up spoiler is larger IIRC...

Just to add to this...

The posters early in this thread were correct. The decklids are very different.

It was a proper custom job to put the carbon 3.8RS wing onto a 993 decklid.

Spare 993 decklid was covered in a sheet of sticky plastic.
964 wing was positioned and bolted down to decklid.
Gaps around the base of the decklid and wing were filled with fibreglass resin and sanded back.
Wing was lifted back off the decklid and painted.
Decklid painted seperate.
Wing was then bolted back down to painted decklid.

A body repair mate did it all for me for £100 inc paint :)

It was all worth it as the 3.8RS wing is an absolutely perfect flush fit now, completely looks factory, and is a seperate bolt on/off item unlike the ones that have been attached/bonded directly to the decklid by filler/fibreglass....

So yes. 964 and 993 kids are different in shape and curve.

Only the bits underneath that you dont see are common to both cars!
