944 wheels on a 911 - is it possible?

Hi guys and gals

I am in Germany and need to get some winter tyres for my 3.2 911.

I found a good offer for a set of "cookie cutters" from a 944. The owner assures me they will fit, but I would like to get a second opinion.

My original tyres are Fuchs 205-55-V16 and the ones from the 944 are 195-15-7".

Any ideas or advise?

Cheers

If the cookie cutters are from a 944 (and not a 911) they will have different offset. I believe you can compensate with spacers but I don't know for sure, I'm afraid. If they can be made to fit correctly I hope they are being offered at a bargain price - cookie cutters are far from desirable these days (although personally I think they look OK certainly as winter wheels)

Sorry I can't be more helpful.

Hi James

Thanks for the input.

Just for the record:

In the end I got other advice that they would work as long as they were pre-87. So I bought them and fitted them yesterday - they work wonderfully.

Cheers
