911 Dakar Replacement Driver Window - Autoglass

I've got a crack across the top of my driver's side window related to the - temperatures this last week and frameless doors although I'm still not sure exactly how it happened.

Looking at the build sheet, my car has: Lightweight and noise insulated glass incl. privacy glass

I've spoken with Autoglass and they have a standard window for a 2023 model year 911 in response to the question "did the class shatter or crack?". Laminated glass will crack rather than shatter and I think the lightweight glass is of a laminated construction.

However, the only other option from that question is "is the window water repellent" it gives another option which mentions sound and "PUV".

Any idea what glass they should be ordering for my car?! Porsche don't seem to know either..

Thanks!

they Porsche need to cross reference the build sheet with that specific option
your local dealer needs to find out

drivers door doesn't have privacy glass, that is only on the rear and side corners,
"With privacy glass, all windows behind the B-pillar are heavily tinted. This tinting reduces visible light to below 20 per cent for the rear side windows (below 30 per cent in combination with the thermally and noise insulated glass) and below 30 per cent for the rear window."

but you have the lightweight glass, which is not the same as it is a composite material

but note, there have been Numerous instances of 992 GT3 with incidents of lightweight glass breaking spontaneously sitting in garages or from wind buffeting with the windows down. Some are replaced under warranty, others not. Some people are waiting weeks to months for replacement glass to come in. I believe there are still incidents occurring now.

Thanks for the reply, that's really useful information! I've phoned my dealer who has asked for pictures of the damage. Unfortunately the window won't go all the way up now - it keeps dropping as I'm assuming it's maybe out of alignment. I've managed to get it nearly closed at a point where I can open and shut the door, but the slight gap makes for unpleasant driving at anything above 30 mph.

I've asked the parts department to confirm what I need to ask Autoglass for in the meantime - I just need the thing repaired to be honest, I can sort out the right glass later on if need be. OPC are saying end of January/start February for a slot to repair it if they do it.

if this is an Insurance repair, confirm with them they are agreeing to install this temporary option

My OPC have replied back to say it might be covered under warranty based on the pictures I've sent, so I'll see how that pans out. Its a four hour drive to get to them though so am asking for alternative options as there's another dealer an hour closer to me.
