I have wanted a 911 since childhood and I am now in a position to buy one.

It has to be in red and be a C2. I want my car to have FULL Porsche Service History (if you can afford a 911 you can afford to take it to a Porsche main dealer). Low miles and excellent condition are a must as I will keep this car forever more and will love and respect it forever.

We'll see if Si still adhears to this philosophy when they get him to "assume the position" after his first service :D

Simon,

You will soon find that a car serviced by a good independant will be better looked after than if it had been put into the OPC. It has nothing to do with cost and everything to do with knowing how to look after these cars properly.

Why restrict yourself to one colour? The buying maxim when it comes to a Porsche is to always buy on condition.

Good luck!

if your going to get an older 911 serviced by an OPC then you wil be needing that gimp mask from the other thread..............

At least once its been serviced by OPC you wont need a garage, just bend over and drive right in!

PS One 87 Supersport for sale, I can afford the car, but can't afford the OPC servicing

If I was looking at a 964 and it was still being serviced by an OPC it would put me off. They don't have the depth of knowledge anymore.

I agree that for some people colour and spec are very personal. I also wouldn't buy a colour or spec I didn't like no matter what the condition. For me its 964 C2s in Guards Red or Grand Prix White only but fortunately for the world all folks are different.

As you want a specific colour, low mileage, great condition, immaculate service history car are you prepared to pay the premium probably being asked? If you are keeping it for ever then it won't be a problem but if you want all that and good value too you are going to have to spend a lot of time looking and probably get very frustrated.

Ian.

Thankyou to all that have taken the time to reply.

Now that is what a forum is all about! I know I may be looking for the impossible and I understand that specialists may be a better option but when you have waited for as long as I have I can wait! I have the right amount of money for the right car even if it costs more than a 2000 model. Cost is not a concern of mine car is...........

I think I can say with near 100% certainty say that the BEST examples of a loved/cherished/etc 964 will be owned by a devout Porsche enthusiast and, more importantly, car/motoring enthusiast.

Because of this, it is with certainty that that enthusiast will have had their 964 serviced outside of the OPC network at some point as they will know that the QUALITY of servicing/engineering nous of the older air-colled 911s is superior at well known independent garages such as JZ Machtech, Parr, Camtune, Autofarm, etc etc etc. As already said, it is nothing to do with price, but knowledge/experience of the people doing the work.

So true. Only an inspection will reveal the true condition.
