I know there's been the occasional post regarding 993 screens rubbing on the seal and squeaking, but does anyone have any experience of 996 screens making a rattling noise?
After some delightful burberry-clad person threw a brick through my windscreen, I had a replacement fitted by Autoglass. Sadly this was the incorrect screen (no antenna) but everything else was fine. They changed it, and it immediately exhibited a sort of "clicky" rattling sound, from the bottom edge where it meets the dash.
Autoglass took the car back, announced that the screen was set too low, and went about removing and refitting it, (unfortunately breaking it in the process, so actually fitted a complete new screen). This made no difference, so the process was repeated. Twice. They than came and fitted damping tape (no difference). Stripped off all of the scuttle plastic covers etc - no difference - then changed the screen again. Still no difference.
I have to say Autoglass have been more than willing to try anything, and virtually all of their fitters min the london area have had a go at it, but the problem still exists. To give you an idea, the noise is sufficiantly loud that if I'm using the phone people on the other end of the line notice it, so it's not just my usual pedantic ranting.
Does anyone have any idea what we should do next?
Thanks
Steve
