I have a C4S that's now 4 years old and needs a 48k service, the car's under a Porsche warranty. Now do I get it done at my local OPC or pass the work to JZM?

Do any of you guys know what the warranty renewal issue is going to be? Am I going to need a 111 point check prior to renewing the warranty later next year?

Damian

I rhink thats the case. You need a 111 point check to renew the warranty

No you don't - as long as your car is still under the warranty at the time of renewal. If the car falls out of the warranty and you want to renew, then you will have to have the 111pt check.

I just received an invitation to renew the warranty on mine today, and they are asking £895.

Wrt getting it serviced, are you going to sell up soon? If so, it may be quite nice to have a complete OPC stamped book for the next buyer for a C4S. If you are going to keep it a bit longer, I'd get it serviced by JZM.

If you are currently covered by Porsche warranty, and don't let it lapse before you renew it, there is no need for the 11 point check...

Why, I hear you ask?

Well, anything they find you will presumably get done under this year's warranty anyway if it's covered, so why do they need the check (might find something that Porsche will have to pay for that you wouldn't notice yourself... )

That's my local 'trustworthy' OPC!

Damian - I had my '48k' service (done at about 40k miles) done by Paragon having first checked the situation with the Porsche warranty.

Under the latest EU regulations Porsche cannot force the car to be serviced by themsleves as longn as the service is performed using Porsche diagnostic equipment and Porshce parts.

My OPC is less knowledgable, less friendly, and their hourly rate is £110 + VAT - Paragon is about 60 something, and they always keen to work with you on a problem.

And to prove that there is not a problem I have since made a claim on turbo valve and secondary pulley replacement (about £520) that was settled under warranty.
