3.6 Timing

I had the car plugged in today to run checks on the ABS issue and found a 0012 code when I scanned all modules. This is a cam position fault on bank 1, no CEL
Some may remember that I had issues with oil pressure a few months ago after a rebuild and that is now resolved.

Bank 1 is showing 16.8 degrees and bank 2 is showing -5.88. They are out enough to trigger a fault.
The car runs very well but road tests have been limited since the rebuild but there was a hesitation when moving off in first/second gear.

I've swapped over the cam sensors and the readings vary a little but the margin of deviation still remains on each bank. I've popped off the cam access covers (the green discs) and checked the timing. The timing was lining up just fine.

Does anyone have experience of this and have any pointers before I pull the covers and re-time the engine?

Thanks

P0012/1349:
Possible fault cause
♦ Solenoid hydraulic valve camshaft adjustment faulty
♦ Allocation of camshaft to inlet camshaft incorrect
♦ Dirt in system
♦ Solenoid hydraulic valve mechanically blocked

You mean the timing reading is out but the timing is physically spot on?

Are the cam solenoids at fault and advancing as soon as the engine is running?
