well - i've eventually got around to buying some new alloys.

18 inchers - so from what i've read i hve an option of 265 x 35 or 285 x 30 rears on a 10 inch rim?

anyone got any views of which to go for? (street use only) and any pictures of a 285 on a 10 inch rim? do they look daft?

wheels are gemballa lemans
8,0J x 18 ET 47 front 10,0J x 18 ET 52

prob the 265/35... from ride quality and lessor cost view.. and that is what I will be going for soon !

both look fine as both have the same rolling radius..

wider is great for rear grip but can loose out from the problem of being too wide i.e. aqua planning & tramlining, etc

I thought that 285 was for the C4S - not sure what your bodywork is like at the rear, but if it is standard could the tyre be too wide?

PS. Like your car!!

Hi Marc,

265x35x18 are the correct set-up for a 993 with 10" rear.

Yes, you can use 285's this will provide more grip, however, this may upset the natural balance of the car leading to understeer.

heavier tires = slower car, all else being equal.

There is also more chance of rubbing.

If you need more grip you could try a better tire, perhaps even an R compound.

If you just want the widest tire for 'show', then disregard this post
