Hi,

Am just about to buy a 1984 911 cab with 80k on clock (engine rebuild 10k ago) and have a full blown RAC inspection happening tomorrow. Being a 911 virgin, wonder if there is anything that I should look out for which may not be picked up by RAC ? Can I have a G50 box put in ? Any advice greatly appreciated, thanks Dave

There are loads of things to look out for on an older 911 - too much for a single email I am afraid. The most important thing is though that an RAC check is not enough - you need a PPI (Pre-Purchase-Inspection) carried out by a reputable specialist. It shouldn't cost more than £150 and is worth every penny. Let us know where you are and we can recommend someone near you.

Cheers, James

Sounds like you know where to take it already! GT One won't be far from you either. The RAC check is useful to a degree but they are unlikely to really know what to look for and definitely won't do things like a leakdown test, which is a must on these cars.

Cheers, James
