Whilst browsing through PH classifieds I just came across a Turbo tip Cab that I viewed and test drove last year when it had 9000 miles on the clock, I'm somewhat taken aback at the dealers mark up, on what I thought to be overpriced in the first place considering the interior colour.
The car was offered as a private sale at £35k Ono with £3k aftermarket alloys fitted (which now apparently cost £8.5k) and also to include the original turbo twists.

996

You would have to be mad, you could have mine at a bargain price of £41,985 and I'll even throw in a tank of fuel :)

:dont know:

20% premium for a 'dealer car' over a 'private car' is completely normal.

There are cheaper Turbo Cabs out there (eg. 2 on AT with 35k miles for £36k and £38k) but some people will pay a lot extra for such a low mileage car.

£35k last year must have been 'trade price'. OK, the interiors very 'personal' but I think you might have missed a bargain.

This is not surprising when you weigh up the key factors:
Mileage (11k)
Full OPC history (Newcastle)
Major service 2k miles ago
New tyres
Manual gearbox
Cabriolet

Try looking for a similar age/spec car - there probably isn't one.

I have always said that a good 996 Turbo (2002 onwards) starts north of £30k at a dealer (around £32k) - low mileage, manual gearbox and impeccable history.

But then again it is true that there may be 996 Turbo at £20k.

You pay your money etc.

That makes a private one around high £20k.

I actually love that red interior with black or silver. However you can't polish a turd :hand: and that's 997 money with a much improved interior.

Before someone else corrects me, I just noticed from the photos that this is a tiptronic car and NOT a manual! That has to shave the price down by around £2k-£3k. The description under the heading "specs" states it is a manual. Very misleading. This sort of thing should not be allowed.

The red interior whilst being 'unique' is not going to be everyone's tase.

But if someone is after a cabriolet turbo, there are few of these anyway - that has an effect on asking price.

The Manual v Tip 'premium' does not apply to Cabs in anything like the same way that it does for Coupes.

That's nasty. Awful wheels, even more awful interior, tiptronic, what's there to like? No one in their right mind would buy that, even if it were £10k cheaper it'd be marginal.

I do see the appeal of a 996 Turbo, but not a cab' and certainly not this one, can you go full tilt with the rag roof on? :dont know:

I've gone very, very fast on bikes, the adrenalin rush is addictive, but the 190mph flies do hurt! Lol, how often do you see a Cab' of any marque with the roof down?

Too cold unless it's summer, then it's too hot, and you want the AC chillin, and if I'm honest, I think anyone over 25, looks like a........

Ok let's not go there, don't want to upset anyone.

Madness....8k over the odds at a minimum.

Them wheels are £1000 a set..I used to have them on a 996 that i bought a couple of years ago..

I flogged them for £500 with good tyres on as i didnt like them either..

So it's a 10 year old car with 11,000 miles that has basically not been driven very often and has been parked up for months at a time, possibly even years at a time. ?
Anyone with any sense will know that these cars have to be taken out and used, even after sitting for 2 or 3 weeks in a garage is not great for them. I would never pay a premium for a low mileage car as miles can be altered and service history fabricated.
As for the interior, I test drove one with that same colour on a bright sunny day and I could not even concentrate on where I was going or what I was doing.

p.s. I am not saying that this cars mileage or history is incorrect.

The provenance of the car is in no doubt; When I viewed it, it was as new condition. it was owned by a very wealthy chap at Darras hall a few doors down from Alan Shearers's pad, after viewing the car I also double checked with OPC Newcastle and they confirmed the car had never wanted for anything, however they suggested that if they were to market it in their showroom it would be no more than the £35k that the owner was after for a private sale. Since that it's covered another 2000 miles and is a year older.
At that time OPC Newcastle had a Turbo S cab with 14000 miles for £37950, so I viewed it as being overpriced for a private sale with a less than ideal colour combo.
