My 993 has a slight baulking when changing up into 3, so before I start to think the worst (worn syncros, etc) I'm going to try changing the oil to see if it improves the shift qulaity. I believe the factory standard was Mobil 1 75W90, having looked on Rennlist a lot of threads there extol the virtues of Redline as well.

So the question is which transmission oil works best in manual 993s? Any personal experience would be welcomed.

Jon.

There is a lot of divided opinion, but I think it would seem to just fall to Mobil 1 75W-90.

JonH,

Did the gear-oil change do the trick? What did you use in the change?

I have the same problem when my Boxster S is cold, but it's not so noticeable when the gearbox warms up.
