After owning a S2000 for the last 3 years it's time to move up in class and get myself a 993 C2S or C4S.

I know there are a few around at dealers at the moment but they seem to be either high milers or imports. I'm looking for a UK car that has no more than 60K miles and have money waiting.

Any help would be grealty appreciated!

Having owned a C4 before, I'd put my money on a C2S if I had to do it all over again.

Why do you say that oceancarrera?

For similar reasons I went GT3... more seat of the pants and less "safe" (boring). The 993 always felt like a heavy car, and the safety net of the 4wd didn't help the desire for nimbleness. The 993TT would be a different kettle of fish... it's a like a fast express train: no lack of straight line oomph, but too much effort with too little reward in the bends. If I were 3 inches shorter, and 15kg lighter
, a C2S would have been a stronger consideration before I went GT3.

But without a doubt, the GT3 really exceeds all my expectations so far... :D

There are a few about... some nice ones for sale via Porsche Club GB I noticed... some though are asking silly money for low milers IMO, but good ones do fetch a premium.

The 2S and the 4S are quite different- the 4S has Turbo wide body, 'big red' brakes, harder suspension, and I believe full leather interior. The 2S on the other hand is wide bodied and has a special colour coded rear spoiler slats, but with sport suspension only.

On the downside, they are v marginally slower than the narrow bodied cars by virtue of extra weight and wider body, but they do look stunning!

Upon first glance, however, the 'S' and 4S do look the same because of their widebodies... which I think is the main reason for going for either over their dynamically superior narrow bodied stablemates...

Can't beat a plain C2 or C4 for looks...

I think the S models look stunning but if I can't find a decent one within my budget in the next couple of months I'll probably start looking at C4's.

I know the 4wd makes the car heavier and a bit slower but after driving an S2000 for a while I'm fed up of having to tip toe around in the wet.

The 4wd don't make them slower - au contraire, probably quicker all around in mixed conditions - but they feel a touch ponderous compared to the lighter helm of the 2wd models. Best bet is to drive them both and decide which one you prefer.
The level of mechanical grip of even the 2wd versions is significantly more than what is available with the S2k.

IMHO a well set up narrow bodied C2 is the best of the bunch in terms of looks, performance, driver involvement and value for money. You are paying a premium for the S versions which are technically no better, but they do look nice.

Dave,

Surely looks are one of the most important parts of a 911, just look at your tt, would it be so nice looking if it was narrow bodied.

Always worth paying more for a decent piece of art or in this case a JoLo ass

Daz.
