That is a serious car. even it's baby brother is quick. faster than a GT3 and IMHO better looking. ( Murcielago especially, Gallardo marginal )

My pal has just bought what is apparently the only one in Scotland, Bright yellow Murcielago. It is the most stunning ,awe inspiring car I have ever seen in the flesh and I wasn't a Countach or Diablo fan in my earlier years so no rose coloured specs.

Can Noony or Sean D put up a defence for the GT3 against this show of power from the Lambos? ( Other than price in case of Murcielago)

Would the 911Turbo not be a more fair comparison, although I am not sure if that tips the scales any further in Porsche's favour?

Gallardo--->500 hp 4WD

GT3--->380hp 2WD

Porsche don't really make a direct competitor to the gallardo, except maybe the X50 turbo. The lambos do look fast, faster than the current crop of 911s, maybe the 997 turbo will compete. I can't really find any faults with them?

A mature response, it belies your tender years young noony.

One of each please.............

Ever sat in a lambo? You can't see anything! Handy if you happen to be driving in straight lines only without needing to change lanes....

I believe that the Gallardo is the first one that you can actually see out the back! :o

I believe the lap time for the GT3 was in the wet, if so, minus 4sec. off, this will give a fairer comparison.

The new Lambo is 4wd so its a bit of an unfair comparison in the wet. I'm sure a dry track would paint a completely different picture...

I personally think that the Gallardo is a fantastic car (better proportioned than its big brother) and all that schpiel about it not being a Ferrari is utter gash!

But, I have had a seat in a Diablo before and reckon it would be almost impossible to drive fast. The windscreen is about 3' away from your head and you cant see the front corners (how do you turn in with confidence?!) and as for all the other views - they were almost non existent. These cars all look fantastic but they can't be used in the same real world way as the 911s esp. GT3 etc.

I think that the Lambos are better than the Porsche if posing in the Cote D'Azur is your thing.

In defense of the GT3.

Mine has done 13,500kms since it was new in May, it's had two oil services, first one free and 2nd that cost GBP200 at 10,000kms and it hasn't missed a beat since new.

A friend of mine has a Murcielago (great looking car I'll admit), which has covered 8,000kms since new. Faults so far include fire in engine bay (2 weeks old at the time, minimal damage but not good), new clutch plate (at 3,000kms, intalled wrong by the factory apparantly), three unexplained break downs (What do you expect sir its a Lambo). Cost of ownership so far about GBP 5,000 for first service and other bits that broke that aren't included in warranty.

I use mine every day, he wishes he could. I think I'll stick to the GT3.
