Afternoon all,

Just thought I would update you on my search !! (the quest for the holy 911)

I have spent all week looking driving 993’s !

Why do people say on the phone “its in excellent condition” ?

Example –

I drove to Birmingham yesterday, after being told that the 993 I was going to view was “mint”, 3 hours up the M40,M54 and some A roads, to get there and look at a “donkey” !! the exhaust was hanging down one side, the gear knob came off in your hand when driving ! The drivers seat looked like one of the Klumps (nutty professor) had been driving it !

Paintwork-

The seller told me he had had the door done… well, the whole car had been painted all over, but bad !!

So, I jumped back into my car and headed for Peterbough, after calling the dealership and confirming that the car was a nice one, with no major paintwork… “yep, its in excellent condition”. So worth the 2 hours cross country to view..

Pulled up, got out my car walked in looked at her sitting in the showroom…

The car still had overspray in the wheel arches !!

Just though I would update you, keep an eye out !!

Dan

Keep looking, dont give up

It is so frustrating when people tell you mint when they mean crap.

Just keep at it.

Good luck,

Daz

When looking for my SC there was one 1.5 hours drive away.

Me - "Is it in good condition?"

Dealer - "Yes, superb, looks great"

One and a half hours later (Ok 2 hours, i got a bit lost) i found a "good condition" SC. Aside from the rot, the doors didn't shut closer than 15 mm to the bodywork (amongst other things).

Dealer - "Yeah, but you expect it in cars of this age"

Hello, you are not alone my search nearly two years now for a 911/930 turbo black 87-89 after four very poor PPi's plus many others not even worth a PPi the quest goes on.

I have found many people are asking silly money all because of the badge on the front of the car. Only thing is for us buyers prices are going down.

There is a lot of junk of there!!!!!!!!!

Drove to Preston once 700 miles for a so called gem took less ten minutes.

SEE YA

Saw a beautiful 95 993 C2 - Polar silver / Black with a tip box, all the extra's, 45K Miles (LHD of course) but only GBP 23,000

97 993 C2 Black / Black with a Tip 30,000 miles on the clock all the extra's about GBP 25,000 (again LHD)

Haven't seen a really bad 993 or 996 in Japan, seen some nasty 930's and 964's though.

1995/M - C2 - Black - Sports seats - 83,000 - Climate - last owner 3.5 years - OPC history till 2001, then history from Northway - New Clutch - high level brake light.

Now sounds good !

Spoken to the chap on the phone (sounds an older gentleman), he said its had NO paint work while he has owned it, few chips on the front.. (we will have to wait and see)

Sounds like a good candidate to get the ecu remapped!

If you go ahead with the car, I have a spare pair of original Varioram exhaust tips from my previous 993 which have been cleaned up and are for sale. They are in very good condition with the exhaust clamps so it's a straight bolt on. Give us a shout if you'd like them and we can work something out.

Thanks Ocean,

Whats the difference in the tips ?

How much would a re-map cost and what BHP would she gain ?
