Stereo Issues 2013 991.1 C4S with Bose

Hi everyone,

I've got an intermittent issue that's just started happening with my stereo, 2013 991.1 with Bose.

On occasion, upon starting the car the audio is 'muffled' at best and you can only hear the low end sounds. I can drive it ten minutes, stop the car, get out, get back in, and it's fine again. I've had this twice now in the last week. I cannot feel any damp under the passenger seat at all. The car is garaged when not in use.

My guess is the Bose amp is playing up or not 'starting' correctly, but I thought I'd put a message out here to see if anyone has had a similar issue and what they may have done to fix it.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

sounds like a water ingress issue, a common issue
whilst it may seem damp, water will find it's way along the cable and into the connectors

does your car have a sunroof ?

Hi,

Yes it does. The panoramic glass one. I'll likely disconnect the battery and get the seat out at some point to have a look. Feeling under the seat it's bone dry. though but that's not to say there isn't water somewhere. I did wash the car last Friday and the issue started the day after so.....

Thanks for your reply.

had the same issue, until i took the unit off did i only discover water in the connector
the roof drains are probably blocked in some way causing this over flow of water
noting it's not a service item for an OPC to check and clean

something in the circuit board has contacted water and this causes this issue

audio went, only bear a low booming noise from the back
got the unit out and there was moisture in the connector

had the same issue right now with the family Cayenne ! just taking it out right now

That's exactly it! How did you fix it? Take it out and dry it off?

There must be a way of stopping this!!

Honestly thanks so much for your help!

Paul.

Hi,

I got the Bose amp out and sent it off to a repair shop. They have just informed me it tested fine. It had been working intermittently prior to sending. I checked under the seat and there was no sign of water anywhere. Is there anything else to check?

I'm really at a loss with this one. I've only had the car since early April and thinking of moving it on already.

Thanks in advance,
Paul.

hiya Paul

if it's not the unit, that is a good sign as replacements and fixes do cost
then such an issue would suggest a wiring problem, which is not as quick to resolve

get the unti back in and you need to get it checked with a PIWIS tester to identify the fault
fortunately audio system wiring is not as hard to get to as core system ops

Thank you.

Going in on August 9th so hopefully they will be able to diagnose.

I'll keep you posted but thanks again for the reply.

Paul.
