I'm just pondering about a steering wheel choices

The GT2 steering wheel sans airbag is cheaper but how much safty do i loose? Also what happens to the air bag light?

The 996 thicker steering wheel is the one i want but tipping in at £850 for a few mm is madness. (i beleive the 996 steering wheel is nice but too skinny)

Or do i go 3rd party S/wheel maker like this one

I like the look but i think it will look out of place in a 993

I too would like the thicker 996 steering wheel - but I can't believe how much it is! :(

Anyone know if any of the after market stuff has tiptronic controls?

Ruf & Techart do them, but they're not cheap either I'm afraid!

SMTK - personally I prefer the look of an original Porsche wheel - the Raid looks too aftermarket to me. It's a lot of money, but treat yourself to the pukka item

Looks a bit big in the boss dept for my liking...

I have the 996 wheel in mine- somehow the thinner rim suits the delicacy of the steering, and has some nice thicker bits at quarter to three position.

I got mine s/h from porsch-apart for about £450 all in inc a brand new airbag unit.
