Spacers......recommendations please!

Total 911 Issue 100 has an article from John Newman where he's put Eibach spacers on his C4 (15mm front and 18mm rear). Apparently this is the maximum size that should be put on. Although the pic on the article looks awesome and bring the wheels out in line with the arches, I'm reluctant to put this size on to fill out the arches for fear of road crap being kicked up and damaging the paintwork!! What are your thoughts guys?? Are bolts also required??

if your car is standard height, I would imagine 18mm would fit quite well on the rear. If it is lowered, I would max it at 15mm.
I run 15mm all round with no problems.

Sounds good to me....any pics of yours???? What size wheel bolts are needed for 15mm spacers??

Tried 7mm (F) 15mm (R) looked good but had wheel vibration that would not go away so took them off, now sat in the back of the garage with other bit that have come off the car. The bolts are just the standard bolt length + spacer. There are a few suppliers that will machine them to the correct length, don't forget locking bolts too.

Below are some pics of my setup.
Not exactly what your looking for but I thought it would give you an idea of what different widths look like.

I run 19mm wider each side at the front, 12mm using adjustable rss control arms & then 7mm rss spacers with 7mm extended rss bolts.

At the rear it is 11mm wider each side but this is just using the adjustable control arms & dog bones. (No spacers)

I initially wanted an even wider stance at the rear, but the car has been setup for super sharp turn in, less under steer & more oversteer feel to the whole car and this is partly achieved by having a wider track increase at the front than you have at the rears.

If I was going for pure looks then 15 to 18mm at the front & rear would look fantastic.
Also I would make sure you use the correct longer bolts with spacers that wide.
As I said the rss 7mm spacers that I bought also came with the longer bolts that are NEEDED to be safe as it keeps the same amount of bolt thread in the hub. I doubt the standard bolts would even grab the thread in the hubs with 15mm spacers on & even if they did you would have 15mm less thread holding the wheels on

My setup was done by Chris & Pete at CG so it has been setup by guys who know what they are doing.

Make sure you use / buy hub centric spacers otherwise you will experience vibration.

Mine are hubcentric . All you need is longer bolts . The other version with studs can be weak and are not recommended on highly tuned cars used on track .

I know.....I wanted to improve the look . After fitting it is recommended to adjust geometry.I don't want to run spacers when I go on track. It is just I don't want to have the geometry changed each time they are on and off. Simple. £85 per set included carriage. Cheap as chips. Longer bolts needed . I have 15mm all round - all seems fine although I haven't had then that long. I plan to lower on H&R springs - which I have already bought.

Spacers (yes - hubcentric), including a set of longer bolts from eBay seem fine at only £75 a pair (£150 in total). Considering I would probably spend at least £6 a bolt (total £120) alone - never mind the spacers I thought it wasn't too bad a deal!

Get asked this a lot. Depending on model you can buy the gt3 kit from Porsche which is 5mm front and rear for about £220+vat iirc.

On cars where we change the intake system we hae to fit spacers but we generally go for 15mm rear and 5mm at the front - that seems about perfect on the road - you could go 7mm at the front as well.

We have been using these now which is a great piece of kit

Get top quality stuff guys like H&R , RSS , etc I would be careful with ebay with the spacers made in china or the chrome plated bolts..........lots of cheap crap.

Ebay spacers are fine - spacers are not exactly a complex piece of engineering.

Chrome plated bolts - you mean as opposed to genuine porsche ones which rust? (in my experience anyway)

It's the grade of the material they're made out of that counts - that and the engineering tolerances they were manufactured to. I've seen cheap Chinese H&R copies that have delaminated and flaked apart around the edge because they were made out of shite.
