Sound Upgrade

Hi all,
Having aquired a beautiful ocean blue C4 I am slightly disappointed with the sound system. While it works perfectly in every way there doesn't seem to be much mid tones or base. I'm no expert in sound systems and was wondering if any of you had any advice about improving the system. I'm pretty much a purist and would like to use genuine equipment. At present it has the single CD unit in the head with a six CD changer under the bonnet.
Thanks in advance,
James.

Has it got the speaker upgrade? It has if it has the speakers in the door panel, bottom right hand corner.

Is it a bose system?

If it is it will have the bose emblem on the speaker in the door. If it is bose then you will have to go aftermarket.

If it hasnt got bose, and the speakers, then I suggest and amp and sub woofer and door speakers.

Hi Daz,
No it's just standard with the CDR 22 head unit, with no extra speakers.

Have you any suggestions on where to take it? It's not so much the loudness, moreover the lack of an equalizer!

If you can (and it doesnt effect the CD changer) I suggest a new head unit and a small sub and you will probably be happy.

I have to say that I had a 996C2 a few years ago same sound spec as you, though I had a CDR21 head unit in mine, and I found the sound quality to be very good.

I now have a C4S with bose, amp and sub and the sound quality is good though still not in the same league as the standard sound system in my wifes X3.

Thanks Daz,
Where would the sub go and what type of head unit?

Any head unit you like, and the sub depends on how much you spend and how big, personally I would go small and put one under the passenger seat, if this is possible,

Darren

With the cdr22 sounding disappointing, would you say that the Bose upgrade is a 'must have' ? Or would going for aftermarket upgrades be better ?

Thanks

Z

I am not certain, but I believe that a retrofit bose would cost a fortune, probably better aftermarket system.

Nice head unit and a disk changer in the boot and a sub possibly under the seats, maybe an amp in the boot also.

Check with an OPC cost of retro fit Bose if possible.

Good luck.
