Big bills would probably not be all that common once you've sorted out the usual problem points (see previous post). Keeping 3 to 4k back would be sensible but may not be required for repairs every year... here's a few pointers to some of the costs (not a comprehensive list or exact prices). More skilled people can probably correct my prices as these are from memory! You can of course leave some of this, as many owners do, but it depends if you want your car running well or not:
Tires £250+ each at the back, £200+ at the front approx every 10k to 15k at the back, more at the front.
3 front rad's I think about £250 or so each plus fitting. Random breakage, usually if they get a stone in them, put a new front end on or protective grills to help cure this.
Disks £350 for two and pads £100+ for two.
Clutch (manual) every 50K or if you're very lucky 100K! £1k ish.
Brake calliper service full refurbish every 40 to 50k miles £700
Major service £800 every 45k
Seized actuators £500 ish for replacement
Geo (not sure on price) every 10k (guess

)
Suspension refresh 50k to 100k (not sure on prices)
Corrosion of exhaust heat shields (not sure on prices)
Leaking boost hoses (various prices)
I must repeat what everyone says on here, buy on condition and not millage. A bad condition car could cost thousands to sort. My way of doing this is to drop in upgrades every time something goes wrong adds a little
