hi guys.

I have designed and produced an adapter/bracket that allows you to fit any 3.5" speaker to the rear of the 986/996 (maybe others? not sure) in the existing "track" without having to buy the Porsche brackets. I went with a single 3.5" instead of the dual 2.75" (maybe?) speakers that Porsche original went with in their audio pack.

They are 3D printed in PLA, not sure how they would stand up to extreme heat in other countries, im not in a position to test that but they have been in my and many other cars over the last few months, no issues at all. No guarantees, im just an enthusiast!

The only criteria is that the speaker needs to be 3.5". A lot of these speakers are car specific, so i have designed it to accommodate the Alpine Sxe-0825s https://www.alpine.co.uk/p/Products/SingleView/SXE-0825S directly dropped in, but i also provide these just totally flat so you can put in whatever speaker you like, but you would potentially have to modify, at least by drilling and self-tapping the speaker in. That means any 3.5" speaker should go in (may require modification the tabs, speaker dependant).

The parts in blue show what you are getting, but the actual parts will be in black.

I have also designed a dashboard speaker bracket if thats of interest to anyone, it holds a 4" speaker on each side.

The price currently for the pair is £25+postage which can be £1 if second class post is ok, so £26 all in.

I also can make a grill for these, see the attached photo and they are £20 for the pair.

Drop me a message or just post on here and i'll respond when i can!

Alpine specific, alternatives that are totally "flat" can be provided.

Hi

Well done.

Do you have a picture of the grille please? Or of the fitted finished article?

Does having the rear speaker like that make a big difference to the sound? I'm guessing it does!

All the best

sure, here is the bracket with the grill installed:

and heres a video of the grill going in, featuring my shed full of crap.

Made a difference to me, really rounds off the sound and i can actually hear my music with the roof down!

Hi

Thank you so much. Is it hard to wire into the standard CDR23? I am guessing it must be pretty standard. Wonder if its worth putting some wadding in the enclosure behind the speaker?

All the best

I designed this with advice from the sound guys at work, see the "ribs" on the back? They said put them in and you can fill them with silicone to add mass. I never did on my own and I get no vibration at all, but the ribs are there to do that if you think you need to 👍

I can't help you with the OEM head unit im afraid, I use a double din Android unit myself that has lines for 4 speakers. I just ran cables down the passenger side and then up.

Hi

Thank you for the additional information. I would be a silicone filler. I have loads of the stuff lol.

I will check up on the connections, and if its reasonably straightforwards will order some!

Thanks again

Berni

Hey mate, you selling the STL files so I can 3D print my own? Thanks!

Hi Paul,
I know it's been a long time since you posted this but I have just bought a 987 and this looks like a great solution for rear speakers, just wondering if you are still interested in supplying them.
Thanks,
Stuart
