Happy new year everyone !

I know that 996 prices having been in free fall and there are a few topics on this subject.

So is there a 996 that will not depreciate as much as others, or even appreciate in price at some point in the future?

Reading this & a few other sites the feeling seems to be as follows :

GT3 Mk I : Relatively few produced, prices already well down, clean, uncrashed ones would hold value relatively well

GT3 Mk II : Too many produced for such a specialist car, look at the the number available for sale, little chance of becoming classic.

GT2 : clean, uncrashed ones are like rocking horse poo, read somewhere that 2/3rds of all GT2's have been shunted at some time or other. Horrific depreciation so far. Reputation goes before them everyone will assume you have a shunted one, can't see any possibility of value retention. Suspect will come into line with GT3 mkII prices.

Turbo : far too many out there to ever retain value well or appreciate.

Now a 993 GT2 appears to be a different proposition. That would be best bet at present.

Far better experts on here than me on this subject, so lets see what the rest have to say.

I think in 20 years it might become like a flatnose turbo

Good Mk2 GT3's will still hold their values fairly well, if you want a virtually depreciation proof Porsche then its got to be any of the following

70's RS
964RS
993RS
993GT2

As far as 996's go, any GT3, Turbo or GT2 that is about 2 years old wll have done most of its initial depreciation. For example, earlyish turbos are about £55k, thats almost 40% down, so depreciation should slow quite well.

Mk 1 GT3 looks good value IMO, thus less likely to depreciate much.

I reckon 964RS, 993 RS are the ones to watch in the future.

what about a 996 Clubsport mk2 GT3? a lot less were made, and also 996 GT3RS? was considering changing cars next year i really like the blue, how can i find out how many blue and red were made?

My experience is that certain cars demonstrate remarkable residual resilience right up the the point just after I buy one!
