Please recommend a speed camera detector

I'm picking up my new 911 (997) Carrera 4S tomorrow, and think it might be a good idea to invest in a speed camera detector.

I've heard good things about the New Road Angel, but would be interested in feedback on this and other brands.

I'm really after something discrete, which does both GPS and laser, and which won't require lots of wiring all over the place.

Cheers

Don't worry too much about the laser part of it. By the time it figures out you are being painted, it warns you, and you hit the brakes, the operator will be high fiving his mate and yelling "gotcha!"

theres a long post on this only a while back if you have a look

origin B2 seems the favoured option ... you'll see why if you read the advice re mounting etc etc

must confess I like the idea of the Road Angel Navigation .. The vest of both worlds! and I might have more on that later!! Watch this space!

just used my new road angel navigator from glasgow to cornwall

seems the best of both worlds, sat nat and speed camera alerts

can also be used outside the car as it has a 4 hour internal battery

Just be aware it wont find that dark green Carlton reg MAN 3349 on the A34 near Winchester with a man on the front with a hand held camera.

I've had an Origin
B
2 and just swapped it for a new Road Angel. Why? Well I wanted the flexibility to move between my cars / hire cars, etc). You can do this with an Origin, but you need to buy another installation kit (about £90) and get it properly fitted for the best results. I think the Origin database is slightly better, as I've had a few close calls with the Road Angel, but then again neither of them has warned me of the dreaded radar / mobile cameras, which concerns me as I've recently passed plenty.

The best and only real way to counter them is to use a radar jammer (apparently  )
, but at £350+, I am having problems trying to persuade the Long-haired General. I can't condone speeding, but if you got 3 points for doing 71 mph in a 60 on a traffic free Sunday morning, how would you feel?

My thoughts too, but didn't they stop making them in '94.

One careful owner?

not forgetting I've also seen a Black Lexus GS (Wiltshire), Green Volvo (Oxfordshire) and enough BMW 5-Series (London Met) to know that they are everywhere !!
