My 2006 Cayman S

Just PXed the Turbo for this little beauty and some cash my way.

Porsche Cayman

Lovely, lovely car. Agile and communicative with the best steering feel and throttle response of any car I've driven. An added bonus is an unexpectedly naughty induction noise: pure metallic growl.

I left the PASM in Normal mode for most of the test drive; I'll try out Sport mode more extensively when I pick it up next week. In Normal mode the car already feels totally alert and ultra-responsive, but never in an intimidating way. You get constant feedback about the road surface which gives you loads of confidence to get the car moving around.

Obviously the straight line performance is some way off my old Turbo; it's about 200 BHP down but it's carrying almost 300 kg less weight. It still accelerates quite nicely, especially above 4k RPM.

Let's see how long this one lasts...

Very nice BTB. Not driven a 987 Cayman yet but I have the Boxster version. I found that on 19" wheels it was quite a crashy ride. Other than that, seemed to handle well. Must have a go one day - plenty of 911uk'ers seem to have made a switch.

I haven't tried one on 18s so I can't compare.

On the roads around RPM it felt totally composed and it rode the bumps really well I thought.

As I said, I barely tried Sport mode but on the brief stretch where I did switch it on it just seemed to make the car more fidgety.

looks a bit dear for the spec, but maybe that's just me! nice car, enjoy, as you were saying the steering feel and feedback is awesome.

Well done BTB, as I stated before I have just got a similar car, mine had some minor cosmetics that needed sorting on drivers seat but apart from this it is very clean and well cared for. Had a quote for this 300quid, so I'll get this sorted.

Similar spec with a few less miles. Black with dark blue (not sure if it's called sea or ocean) interior. No Nav but Ive already had a Pioneer Avic fitted yesterday, which looks and sounds superb, money well spent IMHO (850 supplied and fitted).
I have the 18" wheels and am considering 19s but would like to try some before I switch in case I regret the harsher ride around London Village.

Also, just had a quote from a car dealer (doing it at cost) for a 3 year platinum warranty from Warranty wise, it looks very comprehensive and they quoted me over 3k, Ive been offered it at 1300 quid if I buy through the dealer!

So much to say about this car (as you can tell) but I really do think it's a great car.

My only downside, my missus is struggling with the manual box, the clutch seems pretty hard which I guess is normal but in 20 mins she brought the car back smelling like a giant burning clutch. I'm hoping she gets the hang of it.

Good thinking. fyi - the worst ride ever in my 997 when I cross London on my 19's. However, your car has a longer wheelbase so you might find it better.

Also toying with the idea of rear muffler replacement and an with ecu remap but i dont want to go too loud and regret it.

The clutch felt fine to me. The only issue I had was a couple of times I thought I'd selected 2nd but when I came off the clutch I was actually in 4th. It seems to require a more precise change than the one in my old 996 C2. I'm sure I'll get used to it though.
