Misfire following refill

Keeping the story simple. Yesterday, car running fine. Had been driving A roads for an hour or so. Stop start and fast open sections. Needed to refuel. Filled with 50 quid of BP ultimate. Two minutes down the road I feel a hesitation/misfire on slow acceleration in 2nd and 3rd gear. This happens several times on my way home but is not apparent on brisk acceleration.
Today in similar driving, no probs at all.
Any thoughts? No engine light! Bit of dodgy fuel?
Car is a 57 C2S.

How empty was the tank when you put £50-worth in?

An obvious question, I know, but ... hey ... what the heck.

Maybe not. But, as you know, dirt/poor fuel/whatever tends not to be a problem when the tank's full, but usually when it's nearly empty.

I'll try to keep the tank at a higher level pior to refill in future.

Do you know if a tanker was present at the garage or if they had recently received a delivery... i.e. a tanker leaving the garage or elsewhere in the immediate vicinity?

I didn't see one. I wonder how much of the 'premium' fuels some garages actually sell. This stuff probably has a much longer residence time in storage and consequently a higher likelyhood of contamination or degradation. :evil:
