M96.05 Rebuild

Not much to say here, pretty straight forward putting all the ancillaries, clutch and gearbox on, and she’s ready to go back in the her home.

I was trying to remove the M8 bolts on those brackets yesterday and thinking someone should design a SS replacement for the mild steel part and offer to weld to your brackets via posting.
Would you consider doing that?
Engine looks fabulous.

I know crazy it’s not already happening but I suppose it’s the era we live in every one’s after bolt on faster solutions, I feel some one should set up doing them or even on a surcharge, I would consider doing them for people for sure if they’re local and could bring them down, not really sure on the postage wouldn’t want to get stung if they went missing, and ultimately it’s only a hobby for me I can weld but I’m far from a pro, I’m a joiner by trade but I’m all for helping out if I can.
And thank you 🙂

I noticed you've still got the old clutch curly line on there , are you going to replace it with an OE one?

I replaced mine with a flexi Stainless braided hose and removed the old brass connector completely using an AN fitting straight onto the blue pipe.

Thank you for the link, I’m glad you brought that up as I haven’t looked at what’s available yet but yes i would like to replace it as well as doing braided flexi’s for the brakes too,

Well all it took was a sunny afternoon, 3 trolly jacks and a couple of cans of cider and she’s back in and bolted up I can see light at the end of the tunnel.

With the engine in and all the fluids filled and primed, it was time to turn to the exhaust and as the ones that came off was rusty and rattling inside the plan from day 1 is that I was going to build one, here is my attempt at an x pipe with 200 cell sport cats

Hours and hours of work through this week building the exhaust and soon as I was piped up to the mufflers I got it running and went through the first start up process, and she runs like a dream,

Although it’s not letting me upload to video so you may have to take my work for it for now

Do you have to run it in -whats the procedure?

Yeah got oil pressure after a couple of flicks of the key then held it 2 2k till it got some temperature in it the just drive it let it use the revs to about 4-5 just not spanking it and not low revs high load, but tbh no matter how old an engine is i avoid that,

Well got 50 miles under her belt tonight with a trip to the sea side for fish and chip ran perfect and super happy with the sound,
Only snag that bugging me Is the left tail pipe is sitting a little lower and I did fit new engine mounts hopefully there is some slight wiggle on the bracket and it’s just the way i have bolted it up, but on the whole 10/10 and it’s nice to be back on the road
