This might sound dumb, but having just had my 993 serviced at Autofarm, they've just discovered that it has M030 suspension fitted (from new).

This is, apparently, a "good thing", but can anyone explain why?

Cheers

Firmer springs that are also progressive.

Lowered ride height.

Thicker front and rear anti rollbars.

M030 is also known as 'sports suspension' to you and me.

Thanks! The car feels significantly different from my old 3.2 Carrera anyway, so hard to tell what difference the M030 package does.

A nice thing to find out!

Yes! The car was obviously ordered with a fair few goodies - apart from the M030 Sports Suspension package, it has sports seats, 17" wheels and TechArt body kit. To be honest, I'm not sure I would order the TechArt kit myself, but the car is a superb example and this suspension package is the icing on the cake for me!

I thought the M030 suspension mod was the must have for a 968. Interesting that the same code might have carried over to the 993.

However, the Red Book says that the sports suspension and 2 x 17" wheels were option MP31 on the 993. There is no mention of an MP30 option code or M030.

But the M030 code appears in the list again on the 1999 996 Carrera.

Doesn't mean that the book is right or comprehensive although it is supposed to be one of the better reference books. The option codes should be recorded in both the log book and the manufacturing label in the luggage compartment. :?

Back to the train spotting ....

They didnt come with it as standard. I looked on the sticker on the underside of the bonnet and it has the code numbers on that sticker.

Hope that helps.

Mike

A copy of the sticker should be in your service book.

Mike.

I believe the C2S comes with M033 as as standard not M030. M033 is softer than M030. However M033 and M030 are the same ride height which I think is the information you are after.

Yep, C2S came with M033 as standard "lowered chassis". It's basically a standard C2 set up but lowers the car to M030 height - a comfort oriented low slung look. Can't comment on how the car handled when new on this set up, but with its tired dampers my car feels way too bouncey and wollowy at highish speeds. I'm will sort it when funds allow, but I'm stumped as to what to replace it with!!

M033 only had the springs changed to give a lower ride height, whereas M030 was as said above, springs, dampers, ARB's.

Don't want to spoil your discovery of the M030 option, but there is a very good chance that your dampers are shot and you are not getting the full experience of a firmer setup.

Ok...so if mo33 owners wanted to get new springs..what would be the options?

Would a even lower sping enhance significantly?...I was thinking off putting gerts h&r springs (that come with bilstein hd set up) but not sure how much they would add?
