Hi to all forum member,

I had 25,000 GBP budget to spend. It will used as weekend car. Looking into a 996 C4 ( Perfer to have GT3 aero kit ) 25995 GBP . Found one 996 C2 98/R reg with 90,000 mile though local Porsche specialists. Never bought a car more than 7000 miles before. Should i concern about high mileages ? Is it worth to buy with this mileages ? Also found one LHD 996C4 with GT3 aero kit 35,000 miles for 22995 GBP. Seem all the LHD car in UK with much lower mileage. I am off to view the C2 today. Need advice if i should go for the LHD with lower milage or UK car ?

Welcome to the site,

For that sort of milage and money, it is probably best to buy private, as you will save £3 - £5k on purchase price.

Just invest in having an inspection.

Condition more important than milage.

As an example, in October of last year I nearly purchased a 2000 C4 with 41k miles on it, full GT3 kit, Xenons, full leather, manual, short shift gear linkage, sports exhaust, sound pack, in silver. It was a private sale and I was expecting to buy for £30k.

Should thinkt that are many similar cars about now.

Good luck

Daz.

Welcome!

On the face of it, the LHD car looks better value (if you are happy with LHD) and it is always easier to sell a lower miles car in the future.

With regards the silver R reg, I wouldn't worry unduly about the mileage, subject to the usual suspects (that it Rear Main Seal (RMS) not leaking, and cylinder walls not deteriorating) checking out OK. Northways have a v good reputation. I know the car has been on the market for a little while, not that is necessarily a bad thing, but may give an opportunity for you to bargain harder! The car has a v nice spec, the new dampers etc are a plus, but bear in mind the factory PCM for cars of that age is no longer supported, i.e you can't buy new CDs etc.

Also worth considering a private purchase- so long as you get a proper inspection and possibly an official porsche centre warranty- you will get more for your money...

Just got back from the Porsche specialists after viewing the 996 C2 GT3 aero kit 98/R reg with 90,000. Condition is 2 out of 10 . Way below average. The car was dirty, dent everyway, Bumper scuffs, stone chip......plus more. I felt the car had been in an accident without professional repair .....Apologised for being so negative ! I should stop now....

Now i will look into private purchase.

I believe that you can buy the wtty up to 120k miles, not posative perhaps one of the boys will correct me if I am wrong.

With regards the car, it does look good, and when he says no offers, it just means no silly offers, you go there with £23,500 cash, and I am sure you will get a deal.

If that guy was selling that car into the trade the best offer he would have would be around £18k if he was lucky, so there is a good deal to be had.
