1st question in the seach for knowledge and wisdom:

Could someone pleae list the differences between the c4 and the c4s:

Wide body

What else ........does it have the same 3.6 engine as the facelift c4?

I would like to think there is a long list ?

If we're talking about the 996 models, then the C4s is effetively a turbo without the turb engine, turbo spoiler and intercooler inlets in the rear wings.

But it does have the turbo wide body, yum yum, turbo suspension and brakes and wheels. It is probably slightly slower than the standard C4 as is slightly heavier but I doubt you would notice the difference. But having turbo suspension I guess it would feel tighter and stiffer.

I can't remember exactly with the 997, but I guess the 4S has the 3.8 engine and the wide body. Obviously without there being a turbo, yet, its not possible to say how it compares.

I'm starting to think about the 996.

Sounds good. Turbo looks and set-up without the turbo and wing.

I guess the powerplant is exactly the same as the C4 then?

Supersport is correct. Has Turbo body(minus inlets on rear wing which IMHO make for cleaner lines) , running gear, wheels. Same engine as the C4 (unfortunately  ) As a consequence it is slower (0.1 sec slower to 60 i think), but is still plenty fast!

All C4S's are facelift so have the 3.6 engine. You get 3-spoke steering wheel which i'm not sure you get on standard C4.

AND don't forget the retro red light strip on the back...

Ooh forgot about the rear strip, that just finishes the look off IMHO. Shame none of the other models have it.

Is it a light or just a strip?

Does look retro !

Just a strip. Does it do anything on the pre 996 911s?

You know you can buy a stick-on red strip (a La Halfords) from eBay. I think lost of the red strip was a mighty shame IMO.

I thought they mapped the C4S engine a little more aggressively to make it faster than a C4?

Also (and don’t quote me on this) the C4S is meant to hold its money better compared to a C4. It was the biggest seller in the US (so I was told)

On pre 996 911s the strip is also just reflectors

Looks like the reflector strip came in with the 1974 911S model and pretty much stayed until 996 C4S being the last. It's not on the 997 which is a major aesthetic b*llock dropped IMHO, aside from the fact that whilst the new S models are different from their regular Carrera siblings, I dont think the differentiation between them will count as much as it did with 993 and 996 models. There doesnt appear to be limited production etc so it will be interesting to see if the prices in future years remain substantially apart.

The interior of the 996 C4S is also turbo level, i.e full leather as far as your eyeballs can focus and all that neat stitching everywhere you look -

luverly

I'm hoping the New 997 turbo with have the strip or they might be saving it for a face lift
