Keyed scratch repair

Hi Ranlion

Sorry to hear about this, jealous b@stids 😡

Unfortunately the answer is it is impossible, nothing makes it "as new" other than a full respray, which is of course not the coreect option but it is what you asked.

Options in my opinion depend on how deep the scratch is and whether it goes through the clearcoat (spray water on it and if it totally disappears it isn't through the clearcoat).

If not through the clearcoat you may be able to get rid of it with a decent detailer cutting/polishing it out (although your clearcoat barrier will have taken a hit), a good detailer will advise.

Other than that with a car this new it is probably a door respray and blending in the near panels,

Hi Has anyone any recommendations for a key scratch. Brand new 992.2. About 6cm long on door. Want it done to like as new. London area

It is I think through that . The car is G tech coated too its vertical and short and quite deep, clearly a key. They also did my neighbours ! Any recomeded places in London for this.

You need a decent bodyshop, why not speak to your supplying dealer for advice. It might be possible to flat back the local area, touch in the scratch and re lacquer.

Thanks So annoying this Any idea on costs ?

Has anyone used M&A coachworks ? They are ones dealer recommended

Its very odd that the main dealers dont have own bodyshops ?

That’s absolutely gutting mate. My advice would be to get it polished back as some people have suggested - a good detailed can work wonders. Failing that, you have two options - either a local repair which will likely still be visible if you know where to look or a full panel spray blending into the adjacent panels.

I’d give the guys at SL Restoration a call. They have an option on their website to get a quote if you send them through various pictures. I’ve not had any work done by them personally however I’ve seen their workshop and some of the jobs they were working on looked unbelievable. Also fully Porsche approved and not far from London.

Just to add, at first I thought it was a dark grey but might actually be a flat black. If the latter then it should hopefully be easier to blend as not dealing with a metallic.

Awful to read this - really feel for you. But this has happened to me before on my 997 many years ago. Someone scratched a deep circle around the Porsche badge on the bonnet, and I was amazed at how good a job the body shop did. You genuinely could not tell that anything had happened. The price wasn't cheap, but in the context of the price of the car, it wasn't silly either.

Best of luck fixing it. Given how new it is, I'd definitely take it to where your Porsche dealer recommended.

Hi its Jet black metallic. SL Restoration is £4100 for this which seems very high to me for a scratch. Tempted to use chips way as its parked on road and as soon get it back can see it being done again !

For £4100 i'd be hiring a hitman to sit outside the house until the culprit comes back and break every finger on both hands.

On a more serious note, that's an extortionate price but like others have said, you won't be able to unsee it unless it's a proper job.

Feel for ya as i've been treated to vandalism in the past and it sucks.

I agree with the thought of attempting a a good smart repair for starters.

i'd find the best smart repairer you can - they can generally build up the paint in the scratch to the same level, then flat and polish all around it, to the point only you know where it was in certain lights..................some of those guys (and gals) are real masters at the seemingly impossible

Will try that first. They also keyed my neighbors new Carrera GTS same legth etc and same night. No other cars touched so clearly target 911. And they were parked 9 cars apart. I think I try the smart repair first and see. Now thinking to rent a garage too :(
