Is the 996 ready for classic glory?

Does anyone know if a '99' (MY2000) C2 originally had amber or clear repeaters, I can see in the records that these have been replaced a couple of times but would it have had clear or amber originally? The litrnonics are factory fit and I think the ambers look ok with them.

A 996 Turbo S is always going to fetch good money.

And I can be swayed by a good photo of any car but the Turbo does photo particularly well.

I've always thought an element of the 996's ongoing image problem is they're not as easily photogenic as any of the 'round headlight' 911 models. This is changing as stylistically it's maturing and perceptions of design and form change with time, but still the 996 looks so much better in the metal than it often does on screen or in print.

It's dull to harp on about the headlights but I think the nuances of the front end styling are better appreciated when you can walk around it. In a photo round lights are like eyes to give the viewer a focal point to latch onto, understand personify the form, the fried eggs don't work as well in that respect in an image but walking around a car you view an process shapes in a different way so it's not a thing.

Or I may have just been massively overthinking it all these years....

I also like the fact that the gen1 has an easier time finding cheap replacement headlights, bumpers and fenders because they’re shared with the Boxster.. haha.
Boxster and 996 headlight reflectors are different, they both fit, but they are different.

If I'm understanding that correctly they're not taking it back to the bare shell?
It seems like cutting an important corner to me, going to all that trouble but not stripping it right back, not seem welding, or anything like that.

It obviously costs more but surely if you're going to all that trouble you might as well pay the rest and have it done fully?
