Trawling through the autotrader site (pah..!) I came found a this Martini special edition for £19K - but ONLY 9300 miles on the clock. Surely this is a bargain?

Not for me as I'm after a 993, but I would have thought a collector would snap this one up sharpish.

Lovely looking car, one for the concours guys I think. But why that price? £19912

Can you imagine spending 20 grand on an SC? Nice car but not that nice!

Very very low miles though James, I would expect the whole car to be as new. Just out of interset, how much would it have cost back in '82?

My brother lives near chichester, and I will be going to Goodwood tomorrow so we might swing by and have a look at the car. In the name of research of course!

Nice as it would be to buy a very low mileage car, as soon as you put miles on it you are taking away it's great USP. Also any car with that little use could well cause problems as soon as it IS used. Seals and gaiters failing are just one case in point.

Nick

Exaclty what I was thinking - with so few miles on the clock you end up with possibly as many, if not more, problems than on a high mileage car where things are starting to wear out. God knows what would happen to that SC if you started putting a normal amount of mileage on it.

Plus, I don't care how nice an example it is, £20k for an SC is mad.

I am looking forwad to your report on it though.
