My Insurance renewal experience

Elephant hiked the premium from 650 to 771 so thought I'd ring around

Here's the results

Admiral 1100

Lloyds tsb 921

Aon 1600

Privilege 719 - but I have to spend 450 on tracker monitor

Performance Marques interesting - 790.50 which also includes PCGB membership for the year and automatic trackday cover for PCGB organised days.

Incidentally, for those concerned with LHD/RHD, most were about 20 quid difference between the two

Lots of sorry dont cover that sort of car sir

Mine just came up for renewal too.......current insurer (Bell) wanted £950 and hd incorrectly rated the policy but couldn't be told they were wrong......did a confused.com search to save me the time/hassle and came up with Admiral at £766.....

Privilege were very good last time round, and even better when the Mrs went on to the policy (not that she knows, hush hush and all that) Remains to be seen what they will be like this year.

try and get a quote of elephant website, and see if it's lower than what they have quoted on your renewal notice. I just had them send me a notice for £1900, but i got them to match their own web qoute of £1400, which they did after checking.

Hell, those privilege/Elephant quotes are cheap, Hendo, are you over sixty? I paid 1100 to Admiral for mine, for an '03 C4S with a tracker, restricted miles (4000), garaged overnight in Cheshire, and I am 34 with 10+ years no claims.

I think I'll have to look around next year.

mine is £750, 5 year's ncb, £400 excess, 10k milage garaged south wales, no tracker for a c4s 2003 model, though i do it through the wifes name and she is 30, only do it un her name so she has a ncb, i have 5 cars and 3 vans so loads of Insurance .
i used to put the porsches on my fleet policy but then started asking £1500!!.
i found about five years ago that the wifes insurence on anything is always lower than mine even though i have more ncb and no claims and a clean license !!

Yeah I got a great quote from Elephant on the GT3, think I'm at 740, (no not over 60!). They also mirrored my NCB to the Range Rover Sport, so I get full NCB on that too. They are very pedantic on options & I suspect they won't touch anything thats been modified or with certain options.

Called Elephant back to let them know that I felt that they could do a bit better. Got put on hold to listen to a few bars of Elton John - Nikita, Lass comes back and tells me that the pricing department can only improve from £771 to £ 633.00

errr, ok then, I'll take that then said I!!!!!!!!!!!!

So my renewal is now cheaper than last year. How many people I wonder, dont bother querying and each year when they get their renewal just shake their heads and mutter "bloomin Insurance has gone up again!!"

Right - back to work

Try A Manning in the PCGB mag.

£423 for my C2, 5k miles annual limit.

£443 for the turbo, same annual mileage, both with PCGB trackday cover included.

Both parked overnight in locked alarmed garage, guarded by 3 dogs and 3 geese. Its the geese that brings the premiums down! :)
